He may have offended you, especially if you are of the female persuasion, but there is no denying that this years I’m A Celebrity wouldn’t have been as lively without football legend Rodney Marsh.

Rodney has tonight become the fifth person to leave I’m A Celebrity…..and strangely enough he looked absolutely thrilled!

He will be missed!

I’m A Celebrity campmates Rodney and Marc went to get the Celebrity Chest, and Rodney got angry with Marc because he didn’t like the way he was helping him.

In the game one person had to stand under some water chutes and catch the falling water in their bucket. The other person had to stand back and watch which chute the water was going to come out of and guide the person with the bucket to the right chute.

When Rodney guided Marc he shouted: “Right” when he wanted him to go one chute to the right and: “right, right” when he wanted him to move two chutes to the right.

But when Marc guided Rodney he just shouted: “That one there”, and pointed his arm, but Rodney yelled: ”You cant’ just point like that.”

Eventually though, the pair managed to get the chest and took it back to the camp where Gemma correctly answered the question and the won strawberries dipped in chocolate.

Rodney Marsh stirred up trouble in the I’m A Celebrity camp when he started a debate on men versus women and asked his fellow team mates whether they would be prepared to fly on a plane which was piloted by two women.

The football pundit was asked how he found his time in the treehouse with Lynne and he revealed: “It was interesting. She’s a very, very powerful woman. She believes in equality of women and that women should be paid as much as men and that women are equal to men, and my point was what a woman has ever invented, as an example?”

Janice said: “Marie Curie.”

Rodney: “What did she invent?’

Janice: “I forget but she invented something.”

Biggins: “Marie Curie, I don’t think she invented anything.”

Cerys said: “It was a medicinal discovery wasn’t it.”

Rodney then asked them to name famous female artists.

Cerys said: “The one with the moustache.”

Rodney elaborated: “All I’m saying is you can’t compare women and men if women don’t do anything of that level. I mean women are great in other levels.”

Cerys joked: “I can make a really great cup of tea do you want one?”

But Rodney didn’t give. He told them: “I’m semi serious. If I take scientists, how many women scientists are there that you know of?”

Janice suggested: “Louis Pasteur.”

Rodney: “Louis Pasteur? He’s a man.”

Janice: “Louis Pasteur’s wife was right there with him. She helped him.”

Rodney: “Yes, but he allowed her to help him he said ’okay you can help me.’”

Biggins said: “You are so stupid Rodders. Rodney don’t be silly Rodney.”

Janice: “I have to agree with you. I don’t want to see an American female president – what if she has her period or menopause and she goes ‘er er er’” [makes pointing action on her knee].

Rodney then cranked up the debate to another level by posing the question: “Would you fly on a plane flown by two women?”

Janice: “No.”

Biggins asked: “Serious?” Adding: “Absolutely I would.”

Rodney added: “They would be putting their lipstick on in the wing mirror and all that.”

Janice clapped.

But Anna warned him: “Do you know how many women’s votes you just lost with that chat?”

Rodney then insisted: “It’s a joke. That’s why women have no sense of humour either, that’s the thing, it’s a joke I’m only kidding.”

Janice then thought of an argument in favour of women telling him: “But we give birth.”

Rodney: “Yes you do, and you do it very well. I don’t know why you make such a fuss about it but you do.”

Janice then warned him: “You know what you know you’re going to get it.”

“I don’t think it can be too painful actually,” said Rodney.

Biggins answered back “Oh come on Rodney.”

Rodney added: “You know, when you break your leg playing football that’s got to be more painful than giving birth – it’s got to be hasn’t it?”

Rodney has told Janice to ‘shut the fuck up’ and said that he thinks she is a selfish, spoilt prat after the pair clashed when the two camps were united.

Almost everyone was worried before the camps joined – but everyone else seemed to be trying to get along, apart from Rodney and Janice.

When the pair first met Rodney asked Janice: “How come you got voted to do all the trials?”

Janice said: “Because I’m really famous.”

Rodney replied: “Janice, what are you famous for?”

Janice said: “I was a supermodel then went on to do TV shows. So I did a bunch of shows like Top Model.”

Then, when the campmates were discussing what they thought Katie’s trial might be, Rodney said: “It might be clock and you may have to stay in the grave for a certain amount of time.”

But Janice snapped: “You don’t know it’s under ground or a grave, you may be scaring her. Please stop, you don’t know this.”

Angry Rodney said: “Shut the fuck up for a second.”

Janice replied: “Mind your manners, you haven’t done as much as me. You should apologise. Why are you cursing me?”

Rodney: “Why are you interfering?”

Marc said: “Can I just say something? He’s a lovely fella and I’m sure you’re a lovely woman, there’s no need for all this. He’s just trying to help your friend, now our friend, as well.”

Janice said: “He’s putting the fear of God into her now.”

Rodney wasn’t happy with Janice and told the Bush Telegraph: “The dynamic has changed dramatically, basically because of Janice. Janice is a spoilt prat and it’s going to be a problem. She’s poncy, she’s posy, she’s over the top. It’s all selfish me, me, me, me, me. So far our camp has been terrific and I think this is going to be a problem and I think there’s going to be a problem between me and Janice.”

Despite his problems with Janice, Rodney did seem to find some common ground with Lynne.

He told her: “We have had a camp that has run like clockwork. We have all contributed, we’ve all been part of it and its run brilliantly.”

Cerys told Lynne: “We do look up to Mr Daddy Genius.”

Lynne said: “So you’re here, you’re the wise man. Probably I’m the nearest in your age here too. So here we are, the mummy and daddy, so to speak.”

Rodney Marsh gave us a glimpse of something we never wanted to see last night when he found out that I’m A Celebrity bosses were planning to unite the two teams.

Upon hearing the news that the members of Snake Rock were about to descend upon his team, Croc Creek, Rodney made his way to the Bush Telegraph.

He said: “They’ll change the dynamic of our relationship.” He then dropped his pants and mooned the camera….uuugggghhhhhh!!!

“That’s for you Snake Rock. From our camp to your camp,” Marsh exclaimed!

Former football star, Rodney Marsh has admitted that bosses behind ITV reality TV show, I’m A Celebrity, have been encouraging the celebrities to shower naked.

“We had a meeting with the producers and they told me, ‘You can all shower in the nude’. I hope the girls do – but I won’t!” Rodney told the Daily Star Sunday. “But I have bought myself some designer Calvin Kleins to wear in there – as a posing pouch.”

The show kicks off tomorrow night at 9.00pm on ITV1.

Rodney Marsh is a retired footballer who played for Fulham, Queens Park Rangers, Manchester City, the Tampa Bay Rowdies and the England National side. He is now a media broadcaster and a pundit on the game.

Rodney was famously fired from Sky Sports in 2005 for to his outspoken views but he believes that he’s just being honest and will be honest with fellow celebrities in the jungle.

‘If you ask me a question and you don’t want to know the answer, don’t ask me a question. I’ll just tell it like it is. What you get with Rodney Marsh is honesty.

“It’s my point of view. Gerard Houllier, the Liverpool manager, once said ‘it’s not what Rodney says it’s how he says it,’ so I guess that’s how it is.”

Rodney has been training in the gym regularly in preparation for going into the jungle. He’s not afraid of anything physical but he is afraid of spending time with other celebrities;

“I think it might be a tinderbox with me. If someone starts talking complete bollocks for a long time I might have to say something. If you’re round the camp fire and you’ve got nothing to do and you’re bullshitting and mucking around and if somebody said, ‘what do you think about the new fashion shoes?’ I just couldn’t be part of that conversation.”

However, being a footballer, Rodney is used to being a team player and he has certain skills that he believes will be beneficial to the camp.

“I think I have loads of special skills that would help me on this. I have motivation, I have application, I can apply myself to situations, determination, I am very determined but my biggest skill is improvisation. If something is going wrong I’ll put it right which would be very useful in this situation.”

He likes to work as a team but is concerned other members might not be team players. He believes he’ll help other members of the camp that aren’t quite as strong as him.

“You find out quickly where the strengths are and where the weaknesses are and that’s my upbringing in football as well. You look at the strong, you look at the weak and you look at the in between and you find out where your wrong fits within that community.

“I think that the mix of the people dictates the moods and always being a team player, being a footballer and being part of a team, it’s very easy for you to adapt to other people.”

Sleeping on a camp bed is not a worry for Rodney. He grew up in the East End of London and didn’t have a bed until he was eleven years old.

“I grew up in the East End and slept in a corner on the floor. And when I did, it was on a palliasse, what they use today to work out in gyms, what all the yuppies use to work out. That was my bed in the corner of one room. I had a very hard upbringing so I don’t think I’m going to be too bothered about sleeping on the floor for two weeks when I did for eleven years.”

Rodney is a fan of the show already and has celebrity friends that have already taken part before – Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock and Alex Best.

“They all say the same thing – it’s much harder than you think it is.”

He’s going to miss keeping fit so plans to create a gym for himself in the jungle by using logs as weights. He describes himself as ‘complex’ and believes viewers will be quite surprised by him.

“When they see me in this environment people will recognise that I’m much more complicated than what they actually see on television or radio. There’s another side to me that people haven’t seen. What I mean is that if people say something to me and I’m not winding you up then you can take it to the bank.”

Fellow jungle mates will learn that Rodney is very spiritual and believes in regression.

“There’s going to be a lot of things that will come out if I’m put in the environment and I decide to come forth then I think people could find it very interesting.

“People are going to find out stuff about me that might surprise them, in particular my love of Shakespeare and art. I’m also very well read in mind games.”

Rodney describes himself as a bull: “Stubborn, single-minded, don’t like to take a step backwards. I would like to think I was a cheetah but I am actually a bull. Bull mentality. Strong. I think I’m a strong person.”

What does concern Rodney is his mental ability to sabotage himself.

“Whenever things are going great for me, I find a way to do something that’s going to completely fucking upset everything. I’ve always been that way. When things are going great, in a friend’s relationship, in business, professionally, I’ll always find a way to sabotage so I can put it right.”

He’s hoping that a celebrity jungle mate might be Jenni Falconer.

“She would be the perfect woman to be in the jungle with – very athletic!”
