Former American Idol finalist Sanjaya Malakar has signed up for this years American version of I’m A Celebrity and by the sound of it he just can’t wait to get into the jungle.

The floppy haired singer said:

“I’m just excited. I love new experiences. I love putting myself in places that I don’t necessarily think I’ll be comfortable because I’m forced to adapt.”

“It’s real life except without a lot less stuff which is kind of nice, you don’t have to worry.”

US TV network NBC have announced their celebrity lineup for this years series.

The Hollywood Reporter states that  Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, from MTV’s The Hills, NBA star John Salley, and TV star Janice Dickinson will star on the show along with former American Idol contestant Sanjaya Malakar, wrestler and beauty queen Torrie Wilson and actor Stephen Baldwin

NBC have also teamed up with MTV to allow extra footage from the camp to be aired on Sundays.

Former “American Idol” contestant Sanjaya Malakar is reported to have signed up for the American version of “I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!.”

The series kicks off June 1 on US TV network NBC and will run for four weeks. The celebrities camp will be located in the jungles of Costa Rica.

Since appearing on Idol last year, Sanjaya has realeased his memoirs and an album, both titled “Dancing to the Music In My Head.”.

Bad enough that Simon Cowell has vowed to quit American Idol if Sanjaya Malakar wins. But in addition there is now a MySpacer who claims to be on her ninth day of a hunger strike protest aimed at ending the Idol’s run at the title.
