Apparently it’ll feature a number of girls competing for the role by looking scared and screaming most realistically. There’s not a lot of information about the show as yet, but Lionsgate are backing the film, so you’d assume they’re serious about the competition.

“Horror films have dominated the pop culture landscape for decades and along the way have produced some of the biggest names in Hollywood,” said Jeff Olde, VH1′s executive vp original programming and production.

The series, consisting of eight hourlong episodes, is set to premiere in the fall.

Said Kevin Beggs, Lionsgate’s president of TV programming and production, “VH1 has had a tremendous track record in launching alternative programming that captures viewers’ imaginations — it’s the perfect home for ‘Scream Queens.’ ”

Mike Paseornek, Lionsgate’s president of production, added that “discovering new talent is always exciting.”
