Shayne Ward has claimed that the X Factor needs to go back to it’s singing roots.

The hunky singer – who won the show back in 2005 – has hit out at bosses on the current series of the ITV show, saying that they need to bring it back to a point where it is all ‘about the voice’ and not the drama!

Shayne – who is currently starring in a West End production of ‘Rock Of Ages’ – was speaking on This Morning yesterday, when he commented on how much the X Factor has changed since his day.

He explained:

‘It has changed hugely since my day. It’s changed from being about the voice which I think it needs to get back to.’

On which contestants he has been following this year, Ward added:

‘I like The Risk they’re really good, I love Marcus too.’

But after being dropped by Simon Cowell earlier this year, he does have some words of wisdom for the hopefuls and added:

“My only advice for the contestants would be, believe in your talent but don’t believe the hype.”

Although he isn’t happy with the focus of the show and the lack of concentration on vocal skill, Shayne did admit that he is enjoying watching the new judging panel on the ITV show. He said:

‘The great thing is that all the judges have been there and done that, I like to see a bit of an argument between the judges.

‘It’s great to have someone like Gary Barlow who was part of the biggest boyband of the 90s and still is huge. I’d prefer to hear advice from someone who’s been through it all.’

Imagine our joy when we tuned into This Morning yesterday and were greeted by this vision of loveliness!

Shayne Ward was appearing on the ITV chat show, and we almost didn’t recognise the X Factor hunk, because he was sporting such a voluminous head of hair!

It was no surprise that within minutes of his bum touching the This Morning sofa, Ward was trending on sofa, as ladies with palpitating hearts went online to talk about his gorgeousness.

Of course Shayne wasn’t on the show to talk about his new locks, he was chatting with Eamon Holmes and Ruth Langsford about his new West End role. After being dropped by record label SYCO earlier this year, he landed the part of rock star Stacee Jaxx in musical Rock Of Ages, playing at London’s Shaftesbury Theatre.

We’re sure he said some very interesting and informative things, but we couldn’t get past his sexiness and can’t report accurately on any of the interview.

Shayne Ward has admitted that he is looking forward to tuning into The X factor this year, to check out the chemistry between the new judging panel.

When the hunky singer won the ITV singing competition in 2005, he was judged by Sharon Osbourne, Louis Walsh and Simon Cowell. Mrs O later left, while Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue joined the famous panel, however this year, both those women have now departed along with Cowell and will be replaced by Tulisa Contostavlos, Gary Barlow and Kelly Rowland.

But Ward thinks the revamp will be a good thing for the show and told Maldon and Burnham Standard that the ITV series needed a ‘shake up.’ He explained:

‘I think it needed shaking up and I think the new panel will do that’.

‘I’ll definitely watch it,’ he added. ‘I’ll have to record it because I’ll be singing in Rock of Ages but I’ve always been a fan of the X Factor and that won’t change.’

Shayne recently admitted that he broke down in tears earlier this year, when he was informed he was being dropped from Cowell’s SYCO record label.

He also hit out at the music mogul for focussing too much on his TV shows and not enough on his artists.

Shayne Ward has revealed that he broke down in tears, when he was dropped from Simon Cowell’s record label.

The 26 year old singer was automatically signed to SYCO when he won The X Factor back in 2005. He released two successful albums but was held back for three years before releasing his third, by which time his fan base had waned, sales dropped and the music mogul had moved on to bigger and better things.

In April this year it was announced that Simon Cowell was dropping Shayne, not that he told him himself. Ward last saw his boss when he performed on The X Factor last year and speaking about how he was let go, he told The Daily Mail:

‘Simon wasn’t there to tell me himself. That performance last year was the last time I spoke to him.’

Shaynes loss of record deal came as a shock to very few people, but even though he knew it was coming, Ward confessed that it didn’t stop the rejection hurting him. He added:

‘I knew it was going to happen, but of course you’re sad.’

‘I was fine for a moment and then all of a sudden the tears came.

‘Even though you prepare yourself, it gets you. I’d been with them for six years. Of course I cried. I didn’t hide it. I just said: “I’m not going away.” ’

However, things are now on the up for the hunk. He has landed the lead role in new West End musical Rock Of Ages and the role he plays, will be taken on by Tom Cruise in the upcoming movie adaptation of the play.

Speaking about how he will handle fame and the music industry this time round, Ward says he is more than aware of the downside and pitfalls of the business and insists that this time, he is just going to be himself. He concluded:

‘I went away for three years. Being away from something you love doing for that length of time was rubbish. I lost a good fan base.’

‘It’s easy for your soul to be broken in this industry because it’s so fickle.

People will say hello to you one day and then they’ll stab you in the back when you’re not working for them. Now I’ve got another crack at it and this time I’m going to just be me.’

‘I just want to get my music out there. I just want to sing.’

Shayne Ward has finally hit out at his former boss Simon Cowell.

The 26 year old hunk won the 2005 series of The X Factor and was immediately signed to Cowell’s record label SYCO. However there was a huge delay after his second album and when a third was released last year and sales weren’t amazing, the singer was swiftly dropped. He parted company with the music mogul’s company in April of this year.

In a new interview with Heat magazine, Ward has hit out at the X Factor boss, saying that he never cared about his singers just about his profitable TV shows.

Shayne said:

“Simon just focuses on his TV shows now and not his artists.”

He added:

“You can’t run a record label like that!”

Ward went on to spill the beans, saying he rarely even saw Cowell. He explained:

“People think he’s hands-on, but you just deal with his number two.”

Shayne previously revealed that he hadn’t spoken to the music mogul in six years. He is now starring in West End musical Rock of Ages.

Shayne Ward has admitted that he thinks his Irish blood will help him outshine Tom Cruise in his new role in Rock Of Ages.

The former X Factor winner – who was recently dropped from Simon Cowell’s record label SYCO – will portray bad boy Stacee Jaxx in the West End musical, while Hollywood actor Cruise will take on the role for the upcoming movie version, due for release in 2012.

In an interview with The Express and Star, the 26 year old hunk was asked if he could give it more attitude than Tom, to which he responded:

“Of course, yeah! It’s the Irish in me that makes me a bad-ass I saw a great picture of him recently playing Stacee Jaxx. It’s going to be fun to see his take on it.

“But he’s a great actor. So I’m just going to be who I think Stacee Jaxx is. People can compare, but they shouldn’t really compare, to be honest.”

Ward also admitted that his new job will help people to see the real him and not just the reality TV crooner he is often portrayed as.

He added:

“It’s definitely going to show people my personality, which a lot of people don’t know. It’s been missing for most of six years, because when I did my music, I never featured on any talk shows. I want to show people who I am.”

The UK production of Rock Of Ages will premiere in London’s West End on August 31, 2011 at the Shaftesbury Theatre.

Ward will co-star alongside TV funnyman Justin Lee Collins, who will take on the role of Dennis Dupree.

Additional casting also includes Oliver Tompsett as Drew, Amy Pemberton as Sherie, Simon Lipkin as Lonny, Rohan Tickell as Hertz and Sandy Moffat as Franz.

Despite being dropped from SYCO, Shayne does intend to pursue a music career and has announced that his new single “Must Be A Reason” will be released online on October 10, 2011.

He said: “Louis is such a massive part of the show, so it is nice to see he is the one remaining judge on the show.

“It brings like the history to show, it would be really sad to see him go.”

Following his victory on ‘The X Factor’, Shayne signed up for a record deal with Simon’s SyCo label, but has recently left the company.

However, the ‘That’s My Goal’ singer insists that he wasn’t dropped, and adds that his departure was a “mutual” decision, based on the fact that he wasn’t getting the attention that he needed.

He exclusively told BANG Showbiz: “I’m not with SyCo anymore, we worked together for six years, it was a mutual thing”.

“They are totally TV based, you know with all the shows they do and everything, and I was tied with other commitments and contracts…

“So I wasn’t getting the right attention and focus I needed.”

Shayne is currently rehearsing for his new lead role in London West End musical ‘Rock of Ages’, which opens at the Shaftesbury Theatre in September.

Shayne Ward is said to be in the running for the presenters role on new BBC’s talent show The Voice.

The channel paid a whopping £20 million for the rights to air the US format, which is currently proving to be a massive hit stateside with celebrity mentors Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton, Cee Lo Green and Adam Levine, and insiders they are keen for the former X Factor winner to front the show alongside One Show star Alex Jones.

A source close to Shayne – who was dropped by Simon Cowell’s record company earlier this year – told the Daily Star:

“He’s really nervous about screen testing but he knows this is a massive chance to become something other than a singer.”

It was reported yesterday that the channel are also trying to poach Dermot O’Leary from The X Factor for the show and though insiders insist they will not be making an ‘X Factor clone,’ former judges Dannii Minogue and Cheryl Cole are also said to be in the running for mentors positions.

It was reported earlier this month that Shayne will star as Stacee Jaxx in 80s-themed musical Rock of Ages at the Shaftesbury theatre, London. TV funnyman Justin Lee Collins will also be in the cast, taking on the role of Dennis Dupree.

The Sun reports that in doing so, Shayne’s “proved he doesn’t need Simon Cowell” who of course dropped Shayne from his record label back in April.

However, in the musical, Shayne will play the role of rocker Stacee Jaxx, and he said of the part, “It’s a thrill to have been chosen for this part and I can’t wait to show a new side to my voice.

“West End – prepare to rock!”

The musical, which is set in Los Angeles in 1987 and celebrates 80s rock culture, debuts on August 31 at London’s Shaftesbury Theatre.

The show is a huge hit in the States and is currently being adapted for a film which will star Catherine Zeta Jones, Russell Brand and Alec Baldwin.

In the movie, Shayne’s character will be played by Tom Cruise.

Shayne Ward is reportedly planning to move stateside and try to land himself a role in a Hollywood film.

The former X Factor winner is said to be keen to cash in on the buzz surrounding Simon Cowell’s new American version of the TV talent show and has set up auditions for some new movie roles.

The Sun reports that after being dropped by Cowell’s record label SYCO last month, Ward has decided on a change of direction and has now signed up with actors’ agency CAM, who currently manage the careers of Ray Winstone and Martin Freeman.

“Shayne feels it’s the time to strike. Being linked with X Factor might help him get noticed,” a source told the newspaper.

The insider also claimed that the hunky singer has already auditioned for the new GI Joe film.
