Eoghan Quigg - X Factor 2008

After the untimely and devastating death of Stephen Gately, it seems that fans are eager to get Boyzone back out on the road again. Radio station U105 today suggested, that many are already suggesting possible replacements.

Though I find the whole thing a little distasteful, front runners for the role on a few Boyzone fansites, are said to be former X Factor stars Eoghan Quigg and Shayne Ward.

On the radio show one fan rang in to express her horror at the suggestion. She said:

“Personally I think it’s bad taste. Poor Stephen isn’t even cold in his grave and I just think that no one should be replacing him yet.”

Shayne Ward must be a real football fanatic! Who else would fork out almost £7000 for a manky old office chair, just because Sir Alex Ferguson once parked his bum there?

The former X Factor winner bought the chair in a charity auction at Old Trafford and was obviously desperate to get his hands on some Manchester Untied history.

Shayne told The Sun: “It was between me and another guy. Sir Alex was going wild and said the chair would go to the next bid.

“I paid something like £6,700 for it. Six years ago I could have bought it from the shop for £6.

“People said, ‘You are sick for getting that chair’. But I say that you’ve got to understand the decisions which have been made in it and the fact Sir Alex signed it to me. Alex Ferguson was looking at me – I was on his radar!”

More money than sense if you ask me. He had better hope that new album of his sells well, if he’s going to keep spending money at this rate.

Shayne Ward is not concerned about the launch of his new album next year, saying that the record will be ‘100% unbelievable’.

Shayne won X Factor back in 2005 and hasn’t released any album’s since his 2007 ‘Breathless.’ The Manchester Evening News now reports that Ward’s new disc will hit shelves in February or March next year.

Shayne told the newspaper: “Am I concerned? Not really, no. I remember having this talk with Leon Jackson, who unfortunately got dropped.

“Once you’ve won the show, you know that there is going to be another show straight away and that all the focus from the public is going to be on the new show. That’s why you have to use your time to prove why the people voted for you.

“I’ve done that now with two successful albums and two tours. And the third album is 100% unbelievable. It’s going to be coming out.”

He commented: “Every time a great song is made, I’m like, ‘Let’s go and do it, let’s go and do it, let’s release the album now’. But I totally understand that we want to make this album right. That’s because they believe that there is that killer song that could still come in.”

X Factor judge, Louis Walsh, has claimed that Shayen Ward could still be a star and insisted that he would already be one if his record company had treated him better.

Speaking to The Sun, he explained: “[Shayne's] still on my roster. If the record company got their finger out, he could still be a star.

“He’s recording in Sweden now. But he’s the only person who hasn’t had a fair crack of the whip. I still believe in him.”

Walsh also sang the praises of 2007 winner Leon jackson saying:

“Leon was a great, great singer. He has a great recording voice. But when he came down to do the live show, he just couldn’t cut it. He’s a casualty of the business. I think he’s better than people give him credit for.”

Reports are circulating that former X Factor winner, Shayne Ward is to marry his long term girlfriend, Faye Mckeever.

The pair have been dating for six years and The Sunday People reported that McKeever wrote on a social networking website: “Faye is meeting her husband to be”, later adding: “Faye is so happy.”

Lucky girl eh? If it was me being asked, I so would!

Former X Factor winner, Shayne Ward, has risked the wrath of his bosses, Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh, by admitting that he prefers to watch BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing to ITV’s X Factor.

Of course this viewing decision is driven by testosterone and the only thing that keeps Shayne glued to BBC One is the gorgeous Kelly Brook.

Ward recently admitted: “I really fancy Kelly – she’s beautiful.”

Shayne Ward has spoken out about the calibre of this years X Factor contestants, claiming only one of them can actually sing!

Shayne, who was crowned X Factor winner two years ago, said: “I think Rhydian will win – he’s the only one of them who can really sing.

“I like Beverley. She seems such a nice person and has a good voice.

“And you’ve got five good-looking girls in Hope who can put on a show.”

They can put on a show, but does anybody else out there hate watching them. I want to poke out my own eyeballs when them come onto the stage. It’s all so contrived!!

Former X Factor winner, Shayne Ward, has revealed that one of the best things about being back in the UK is that he can watch the latest X Factor series.

Speaking to The Mirror Shayne revealed:

“It’s great being back in the UK cos it means I can watch it. They have had some hilarious people on this year, it cracks me up!”

Former X Factor winner Shayne Ward has reportedly agreed to appear in a fashion show organised by Supermodel Naomi Campbell.

The pair were introduced recently bu Fugees star Wyclef Jean and hit it off immediately.

A source told The Sun: “Naomi and Shayne got on like a house on fire at will.I.am’s gig. They got on so well that she has asked him if he would model in the show she is organising for Mandela. He jumped at the chance.”

Talking about the event, Ward commented: “I’m really pleased I was asked to take part in this show as it’s for an amazing cause and Naomi is one of the most beautiful and sexy women in the world. Who wouldn’t want to walk down the catwalk with her?”

Former X Factor winner, Shayne Ward has slammed Simon Cowell’s decision to sack Louis Walhs from the show earlier this year. Shayne thinks that the show would have flopped without him, but strongly denies any rumour of a PR stunt.

“Louis’s sacking was 100 per cent genuine. They wanted something new so they thought they’d try new judges and change around the set, and Louis did get axed – I know because he was gutted,” Shayne told the Manchester Evening News.

“But now that he’s back, it’s great – the show wouldn’t have worked without him. He’s done it for three years with Sharon Osbourne and Simon Cowell and it was a winning formula.”
