Grease Is The Word: David Gest And Sinitta Demand More Airtime

Grease ITV JudgesThe Mirror has reported that David Gest and Sinitta have issued complaints to ITV bosses and demanded that they receive more airtime as judges on ITV’s reality TV show, ‘Grease Is The Word.’

A source told the newspaper:

“Sinitta has used a stopwatch to time her screen slots and has made it clear she’s not on long enough. So she’s going to wear even sexier outfits now. “And Gest isn’t holding back either, calling (fellow judge) David Ian ‘a moron’ several times and ranting afterwards about just being an extra.”

Any Dream Will Do: Zoe Tyler Hits Out At Sinitta

Any Dream Will DoFiesty vocal coach from BBC’s Any Dream Will Do, Zoe Tyler, has hit out at her ex pupil Sinitta who is currently judging on ITV’s Grease Is The Word.

Zoe not only criticised Sinitta but also questioned her right to judge on that type of show, saying:

“Sinitta just makes a bikini and a fur coat look good.”

She added:

“Yes, she’s done a few West End shows but she doesn’t have my expertise. She doesn’t know what’s right.”

To be honest I’d have to agree with Zoe.

Grease Is The Word: Sinitta Wants A Black Sandy

Grease ITV Judges80s pop sensation, Sinitta, has revealed that she would love to see a black girl win the role of Sandy in ITV’s television show, ‘Grease Is The Word’.

Sinitta auditioned for the role in 1993 and was gutted when Debbie Gibson got the role as she had the more traditional look.

“I suppose I’m living what I could have enjoyed through the people in the show. A black Sandy would be like saying I nearly made it and now you have. I would love it,” Sinitta told the Sunday Mirror.

“In 1993 they went with the other girl with the more traditional Sandy look. She was white and blonde and very pretty. After that final audition I went home and cried for a week. I really thought I could have been the first black Sandy. I wanted the role for me and for every other black person. It was a huge disappointment.”

X Factor 2007: Cheryl Cole Named As new Judge

“Cheryl is perfect for the job because she has been through the reality television experience. Continue reading ‘X Factor 2007: Cheryl Cole Named As new Judge‘ »

Grease Is The Word: Sinitta To Adopt

Grease Is The Word judge, Sinitta, is set to adopt a baby.

Sinitta is unable to have her own children and just one year ago, the surrogate mum she was pinning all her hopes on had a miscarriage.

“I was at my lowest,” Sinitta, 40, admits to The Sun. “My weight dropped to six-and-a-half stone and I felt awful. I thought I’d never get the chance to be a mum.”

But a year on and not only has Sinitta landed her dream job, but she is also on the verge of adopting two babies.

The singer laughs: “What a difference a year makes. Now we’re getting ready to be parents and I’ve got a great new job.

“I’ve not felt this happy or confident in a long time. We’ve decided to adopt two at the same time because we can afford to.

“We’d like them to be between the ages of newborn and two, and mixed race so they look like Andy and I biologically.

“Whenever I see little mixed race children I go into my fantasy land.

“It’s just a really exciting time for both of us. If everything goes to plan we’ll have our babies by Christmas. I can’t wait to bring them home.”

Dannii Minogue As New X Factor Judge?

X Factor LogoAnother day, another story!

A few days ago it was reported that Simon Cowell’s ex-girlfriend, Sinitta, would be replacing Louis Walsh as an X factor judge, but the Daily Mail today insists that the job has actually gone to Dannii Minogue.

An show insider told the Mail: “It has now been decided that Dannii will be the new judge. There was much speculation about her joining the team but she has decided to go for it.

“She has all the attributes needed to be a good judge. She is beautiful, talented and very eloquent. She will do well. The British public will not be disappointed with her.

“It was an easy decision to make, especially after her outstanding performance on (a similar talent show in her home country) Australia’s Got Talent,” the source said.

The deal is understood to be worth some £250,000 for Miss Minogue.

I just don’t know who to believe!

Simon Cowell Picks Sinitta As New X Factor Judge

X Factor LogoIf I were Simon’s girlfriend Terri I would be getting worried! Not only did Simon pick his ex-girlfriend Sinitta to judge the new ITV show, Britain’s Got Talent, but The News Of The World has revealed that he has also asked her to fill Louis Walsh’s shoes as the fourth judge on the X Factor.

Sinitta revealed to the News Of The World, “He’s given the authorities an amazing insight into what I’m about.

“I do feel bad because Louis is a close friend, but he is not on the show any more and that’s not my fault.

“I’m the rightful new judge because I’ve been groomed for the job.”

So the judges lineup will be as follows, Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, Sharon Osbourne and Sinitta. To me that seems a lot more balanced. I think ITV had to shake the panel up after the amount of complaints last year about bitchery between Simon and Louis. I hope that the judges this year are more fair and balanced and not just out to get one another.

Grease Is The Word: The Launch Party

Grease Is The WordPhew! I’m just back from a whirlwind trip to the Grease Is The Word launch party in London.

Those guys at ITV know how to throw a party - from the pink carpet outside the venue as I arrived to the T-shaped stage, everything was Grease-themed from the get-go. Even the London Eye has been coloured pink for the event (and will remain pink for the next few days).

The Preview

We were treated to previews of the auditions and the ITV2 show, Greased Lightnin’. If you’re a fan of The X-Factor, you’re going to love GITW (yes, I had to shorten it!).

All the golden elements of reality TV contestants are here: complete wackos, talented unknowns and…drumroll…. a failed 90’s pop star hoping for a career comeback. That brings back memories of Peter Andre and Andy Scott-Lee and the cast of Re-born In The USA… We love 90’s pop stars - we were there first time round!

The ITV2 aftershow, Greased Lightnin’ looks set to be a lot of fun as well, providing the usual opportunities to get closer to the contestants and find out more about them.

Judges and Presenters

After a few drinks, the presenters (Zoe Ball and Holly Willoughby) and three of the judges (David Ian, David Gest and Sinitta) were brought on stage for a Q&A session. Holly looks much cuter in the flesh, by the way.

David Ian came across as very business-like. He said “We’re looking for Danny and Sandy for the live show and rehearsals will start immediately after the final.” He also revealed that they are auditioning for the rest of the cast simultaneously, and that some auditionees who didn’t make the show are being considered for other roles. So there may be more than a few unknowns in the final stage show which will be opening at the Piccadilly in August

When asked if he was worried about GITW going head-to-head with the BBC’s Any Dream Will Do, David replied that he thought it was fantastic for the theatre industry that there are two primetime shows centred on casting for West End shows.

David Gest thinks that Grease has stronger songs than Joseph, and will triumph because it’s more popular.

Judge Rivalry

Expect tensions between David Ian and David Gest (who’s swiftly being renamed DG). I’m not sure how authentic the verbal sparring is between the two, but a few insults were traded on the night!

It looks like Sinitta is taking the role of ‘fair’ judge. She said that she thinks David Ian is the toughest judge, but from what I saw, David Gest was being the most blunt a la Cowell.

Having said that, if I’m A Celebrity turned David Gest into a household name, his role as a judge in GITW will seal the deal. The entire room was guffawing at some of his comments to awful auditionees.

The Grand Finale

To finish off the launch, there was a performance of songs from Grease by the cast of the West End show, including Hayley Evett of Pop Idol fame as Sandy. A very nice end to an exciting evening, and thanks to the nice folks at ITV for inviting us along!
