Patsy Kensit and Ann Widdecombe attend daily Mass while taking part in the Strictly Come Dancing tour.

Former Holby City star Patsy, who is a practising Catholic told The Sun that sometimes she and the former Tory MP argue over which service to attend. She said:

“I go to 6pm Mass but Ann is trying to get me to go to the 8am one with her.

“And I’m like, ‘Can’t we find one a bit later in the day?’ Like my mum, she’s very devout.”

The pair even have their own patron saint, that they turn to. Patsy laughed:

“St Jude is the patron saint of hopeless cases and he comes up trumps every time.”

Strictly Come Dancing winner Kara Tointon has admitted that she had sworn off men before meeting Artem Chigvintsev.

The former Eastenders actress had decided to take a break from relationships, after her split from actor Joe Swash, but was won over by the professional dancer’s charms on the BBC show.

Speaking on tonight’s Graham Nortoin show Kara explains:

“I wasn’t looking for a relationship.

“I had decided not to date for the next two years.

“I was having a moment out.”

She added:

“I was attracted to Artem because he is a real gentlemen and I haven’t met one of those in a while.

“He’s gorgeous inside and out.”

Pamela Stephenson was worried people would think she was having an affair with James Jordan.

The 61-year-old psychotherapist – who is married to comedian Billy Connolly – decided to openly address her crush on her 32-year-old ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ partner so fans of the BBC One show didn’t speculate on whether they were enjoying a raunchy affair.

She explained: “I believe at some level people knew I was relishing the opportunity to have a sanctioned mini ‘affair’ with him – unconsummated of course – that provided an intriguing subplot for our so-called ‘Strictly’ story. I didn’t hide my feelings, and chose to be quite open about my temporary crush on James.

“If I had not, I fear that, despite our age difference, there might have been speculation about the possibility of a little granny-s***ging going on behind the scenery!”

Being the oldest contestant to have ever reached the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ final, Pamela admitted she was “extremely proud” to fly the flag for people in their sixties.

Writing in G2, she said: “Frankly, in my younger day I was one of the people who held the common prejudice that sexagenarians could not be athletic, fun-loving, vital, sexy and passionate and I would be thrilled if I did indeed help to change that tune.

“I feel extremely proud to be a flag-flier, and profoundly grateful for the way people of all ages supported me, voted for me and willed me to succeed.”

Kara Tointon has admitted that she is looking forward to spending Christmas with her Russian hunk, Artem Chigvinstev.

The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ winner admitted she is keen to settle into a normal relationship with her dance partner now the BBC One show has come to an end, and confessed that her family have invited Artem to spend Christmas day with them.

She explained: “Artem is going to come and spend Christmas with my family. Will I introduce him as my boyfriend? I should hope so, yeah! I have met an amazing person, and I go a bit red when people ask about it.

“We are still spending lots of time together. In fact, Artem is going to cook us dinner tonight, which is going to be really nice. I am really looking forward to introducing him to my friends and more of my family this Christmas.”

Kara confessed she had fancied Artem from the first time they appeared on the show together, but her feelings came to a head on Saturday night’s (18.12.10 ) final when she kissed him passionately on live TV.

She explained: “It was us just enjoying it and that is when I realised what an amazing person I have met, and that I want to spend more time with him.

“I think I was lost in the moment, I was so happy that I gave him a big smacker.”

However, the final wasn’t all plain sailing for the former ‘EastEnders’ actress, as she was left in pain after hurting her back on the previous day.

She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “On Friday I did this backflip and I knew I had done something. I woke up on Saturday in a bit of pain, I took some painkillers and I had physio all day. On the night, on dance two, I felt it go. Then I was trying to do all these tricks and lifts in pain.

“I have torn some ligaments in my arm. Then we made it through to the next round, it was a shame because I’d like to have done a couple of really good dances. They weren’t that good at the end. That is why Saturday night meant so much because I didn’t expect people to vote for me.”

Kara Tointon was on cloud nine when she won Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday night, however she experienced a quick comedown when she had to take a trip to A&E just hours later.

The former Eastenders actress beat Pamela Stephenson and Matt Baker and took the glitterball trophy, when she received the highest amount of public votes after her stunning showdance and emotional waltz. However while she was rehearsing her energetic freestyle routine earlier in the afternoon, Kara hurt her arm and had to be loaded with painkillers to take part in the BBC show.

Once the medication wore off, Tointon found that she was in agony and her dad drove her to the local hospital for an x-ray. She told The Sun:

“Emotions were running high.

“We had just won and we couldn’t believe it and we were on cloud nine and we kissed. We were so overwhelmed by it all. I got home late because of the snow and managed to get some sleep.

“But I woke up after the painkiller had worn off and I was really feeling the pain and couldn’t move my arm.

“My dad took me to hospital and they were really great. They X-rayed it. I have torn a ligament. It is really painful.”

Kara’s hunky dance partner Artem Chigvintsev was devastated by the news. She added:

“He was gutted. I was a bit dramatic. It was so painful and he was so worried. Artem has just been incredible. He has been brilliant from the beginning.”

Ann Widdecombe has confessed that taking part in Strictly Come Dancing, was the best thing she’s done this year.

The former Tory minister – who was eliminated from the BBC One show just one week before the semi-finals – explained she had a “whale of a time” on the celebrity dancing contest.

She said: “Without a doubt it’s been the highlight of my year. It’s completely different to anything I’ve ever done before and I had a whale of a time.

“It’s good, wholesome family entertainment that everybody can watch – glittery, very showy and really good fun.”

The 63-year-old star also admitted dancing was a “wonderful relief” from the pressures of politics.

Ann added: “Well, it’s a lot more relaxing, of course! When you’re in politics, everything you do affects people for better or worse. If I fall down on the floor on ‘Strictly’, I can’t hurt anybody else.

“Nothing I do on ‘Strictly’ – unless I happen to kick Anton Du Beke rather hard – can possibly affect anybody else. It’s a wonderful relief.”

Kara Tointon and Artem Chigvintsev have won Strictly Come Dancing.

The sexy pair performed four routines for the judges tonight and in the end, beat Matt Baker and his partner Aliona to the glitterball trophy.

Bruno Tonioli raved about their final routine, an American Smooth, after which he gushed:

Whatever happens this was an inspired performance. Creatively it was superb and danced to a level that we have hardly ever seen here.

He also loved their earlier Waltz, saying that Kara is always a ‘pleasure to watch.’ The Italian judge said:

It’s quality, quality of movement. You can’t top that. It was a pleasure to watch and if you can’t see that you’re blind.

On hearing that she had triumphed a tearful Kara cried:

It’s just the most special thing that I’ve ever achieved and thank you to Artem, he’s been absolutely wonderful. And Matt made this happened through his ridiculous work commitments, I’m a bit embarrassed. I’ve met the most fantastic friends for life and this has been the most special experience of my life.

Also crying, Artem turned to his new love and added:

You’re amazing!!

Pamela Stephenson and James Jordan have become the first couple to be eliminated on tonight’s Strictly Come Dancing final.

Narrowly missing out on a chance of winning the glitterball trophy, the pair finished in third place, leaving Kara Tointon and Matt Baker battling it out for the crown.

Pamela and James scored a perfect 40 with their Viennese Waltz earlier in the evening, with judge Bruno Tonioli gushing:

So elegant and graceful, that for me was even more emotional that the last time. It was like an invitation into movie magic, it was wonderful.

Their showdance was well received by head judge Len Goodman, who told the talented pair:

You’ve used all the skills that you’ve learned and put them into your freestyle routine. It was charming.

Their score of 37 for this routine put Pamela and James at the top of the leaderboard but as the result was wholly dependant on the public votes tonight, their high scores couldn’t save them.

On hearing the news, Stephenson thanked her patient partner, who had earlier admitted that when he was first paired with her he expected to be eliminated before the halfway point of the series.

She said:

James you have been just incredible, you’ve made it the most joyful experience I’ve had for a really long time. Your patience and your dedication and your talent has been outstanding. Thank you so much.

Tonight we are enjoying BBC’s live Strictly Come Dancing final, in which Kara Tointon, Pamela Stephenson and Matt Baker are battling it out for the glitterball trophy.

Speaking before the finale, former Eastenders actress Kara – who earlier impressed the judges with her energetic showdance – said that even though things are heating up on the dancefloor, she has a huge amount of respect for her fellow competitors.

On 61 year old TV psychologist Pamela Stephenson, Tointon told The News Of The World:

“She’s a machine. Her drive shocks and inspires us.

“She gets up and goes for it and I look at her and wish I had that energy. Me and Artem both do.”

And on Countryfile’s Matt Baker she added:

“He’s so lovely. I got on so well with them from the beginning. He and Aliona help us and give tips to us. We all help each other.”

Kara even praised razor tongued judge Craig Revel Horwood, saying.

“He’s so hard, the harshest of the judges.

“So when he says a good thing it means a lot because he doesn’t say it to everyone.”
