Alesha Dixon leaving Strictly Come Dancing?

Alesha Dixon has hinted that she may not be returning to BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing later this year.

The singer replaced Arlene Phillips on the show last year, but may be about to drop out and concentrate on her music career.

Dixon told The Mirror: “I’m starting the album from scratch this week, including writing and recording everything. It’s all I’m thinking about. That’s what I’m concentrating on.

Strictly Come Dancing: Brendan Cole says ‘Alesha Dixon fitted in well’

Brendan Cole has defended new Strictly Come Dancing judge Alesha Dixon, saying that she coped well on her first series of the show.

Cole told Wales Online: “The BBC make their decision and we participate. Whatever decisions they make, they are doing it for the best interests of the viewers. Whether it’s good or bad, it’s not for us to get involved.

Nigel Lythgoe predicts the end of Strictly Come Dancing

So You Think You Can Dance judge Nigel Lythgoe thinks that Strictly Come Dancing is on its way out.

Nigel has just launched SYTYCD on BBC and thinks that Strictly has been on air for too long and viewers are tiring of the format.

“I think that in the UK once something’s successful it’s wrung out like a sponge and gets overdone,” the 60-year-old told The Guardian.

Arlene Phillips won’t return to Strictly Come Dancing

Arlene Phillips has claimed that she won’t return to BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, even if her replacement does leave.

Reports suggest that Alesha Dixon, who was brought in to replace Arlene on the Strictly judging panel last year, may be about to leave to further her music career. But when asked if she would be prepared to make a comeback on the show, the So You Think You Can Dance judge told Hello magazine:

‘I never even entertain that question.’

Ricky Whittle wants to try a bit of Dirty Dancing

Strictly Come Dancing runner up Ricky Whittle has admitted that he would like to star in a remake of Dirty Dancing.

“Why couldn’t I do Dirty Dancing?” he told The Mirror. “Patrick Swayze has sadly passed and Antonio Banderas and John Travolta are getting on a bit – I always wanted an action film role, now I can dance!”

Hollyoaks actor Ricky Whittle has admitted that he would love to see this year’s Strictly Come Dancing voting results.

The star, who came second on last weekend’s final of the show, called for BBC show to release the figures in a similar fashion to The X Factor.

Chris Hollins to spend quality time with his girlfriend

Strictly Come Dancing winner Chris Hollins has revealed that he plans to spend Christmas spoiling his girlfriend Sarah and making up for all the time he spent rehearsing for the show.

Speaking to The Mirror Chris said: “I owe all my success to Ola but now it’s over I owe a bit of quality time to Sarah.

“It has been tough on Sarah. We were on holiday when I heard I was going to be on the show and I went home, leaving her alone.

Ricky Whittle won’t be on Strictly Come Dancing tour

Hollyoaks actor Ricky Whittle is reportedly devastated, after finding out that BBC bosses did not want him on the Strictly Come Dancing tour.

Ricky made it to the show’s final last weekend, losing out at the final hurdle to TV presenter Chris Hollins.

Inferior dancers like Natalie Cassidy, Ricky Groves and Chris Hollins have already been signed for the tour but poor old Ricky has been left out in the cold.

Strictly Come Dancing: Ricky Whittle danced through hernia pain

Strictly Come Dancing runner up, Ricky Whittle, has revealed that he has been suffering from a secret hernia since he started on the dance show, but didn’t tell BBC bosses in case they made him withdraw.

Ricky told The News Of The World:

“I had to keep it a secret. If they had known the BBC could have pulled me out on medical grounds. And I didn’t want the viewers to find out because I’d hate to think I was getting sympathy votes.”

Strictly Come Dancing: Bruno Tonioli and Len Goodman admit mistakes were made

Strictly Come Dancing judges Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli have admitted that some mistakes were made on the show this year and that BBC would need to ‘tweak’ the format for the 2010 series.

“Bruno and I both agree that having 16 couples was too much,” Goodman said. “At the beginning, people had to sit through two and a half hours. Most shows and series that run for several years have ups and downs. I think the BBC is right in trying to tweak it. It’s like a plant – it needs to be pruned occasionally.”

Strictly Come Dancing 2009: Chris Hollins wins!

Proving that the British public really do love an underdog, Chris Hollins has won this years series of Strictly Come Dancing.

Chris performed in tonight’s final show against Hollyoaks actor Ricky Whittle.

Ricky scored highest with the judges, he and Natalie Lowe ended with 190 points whilst Hollins and Jordan achieved 186. However Hollins won the public vote and in the end walked away with the glitterball trophy.
