We’ve become so used to seeing Gary Barlow all suited, booted and ever so slightly tense each weekend on The X Factor, that we were a little surprised to see him rocking out in the video below.

The Take That star performed an impromptu set of songs this week, at an exclusive fundraiser in London for Great Ormond Street hospital.

He took to the stage with live band ‘No Expectations’ to perform Back in the USSR and then launched into a rendition of ‘Hey Jude,’ when he was joined by celebrities including Harry Hill, Vernon Kay and Krishnan Guru-Murthy.

He looks oh so comfortable to be singing the classic tracks and when watching this, it is clear that music really is Gary’s first love. We winder why he’s bothered with the whole TV thing at all!

Take That may be one of the biggest bands in the world but they started from humble beginnings, as you can see in the clip below.

The boys may be a whole heap of hunky goodness these days, with their designer stubble, their expensive clothes and their chiseled good looks, but that wasn’t always the case and in fact, when they started out the group where something of a fashion disaster.

The video below shows the lads making their first ever TV appearance, on a Manchester based children’s TV show and with his peroxide blonde spiky hair and his tight white jeans Gary Barlow is barely recognisable compared to how he looks on the X Factor judging panel.

He’s not the only one looking silly though, as we are not digging Howard Donald’s white cut off shorts and low cut vest top, Jason Orange’s bowl hair cut, or Mark Owen’s ridiculous baseball cap.

The clip will be shown tomorrow night, on BBC2 show ‘TV Greats: Our Favourites from the North’, which will air at the same time as The X Factor. We hope Gary isn’t too embarrassed!

Craig Colton has revealed that he has two major music stars backing his future career.

The former biscuit factory worker was eliminated from the ITV series on Sunday night, after a heated sing off with 17 year old Amelia Lily. However he is far from devastated about the fact and in an interview with The Sun today, revealed that he will have the best of advice from this point onwards.

Many fans blame Craig’s mentor Gray Barlow for his poor song choice on Saturday and Colton himself has admitted that the track probably did lead to his axe. But he is very vocal in his praise for the dad of three and said that Barlow has promised to work with him in the future. He explained:

“He wasn’t just a mentor, he became a really good friend. Gary is going to help me.”

Craig also has support from another corner and admitted that Gary’s Take That bandmate Robbie Williams has also been in touch. He added:

“After Judges’ Houses, I kept in touch with Robbie as well. He’s been really supportive. I’m passionate about songwriting and he’s been helping me with that.”

“He demonstrated on a few of his own tracks how he wrote them.”

Last week the Liverpudlian singer also met with former show contestant Danyl Johnson. Newspapers claimed that the pair were enjoying a romantic date, but later Craig insisted that Dan was speaking to him about some producers he ahd been working with, setting up some introductions for Craig and talking about life after the X Factor.

It sounds like Craig is well prepared for the road ahead.

Kelly Rowland has admitted that like most of the female population of Britain, she has a bit of a crush on her fellow X Factor judge Gary Barlow.

The brunette beauty sits beside the dad of three on each live show on the ITV series and may be struggling to keep her hands off the hunk, as she told the Daily Star that if he wasn’t already married, she would be so ‘in there.’

She laughed:

“I fancy Gary. If he wasn’t married I’d be in there abso-frickin-lutely.

“You fall in love with him as a human being. He has so much to give to the world in music and love.”

However, Gary isn’t the only object of her affections and Kelly confessed that she also enjoys watching Olly Murs in his tight trousers each week, saying:

“Olly Murs has cutest butt I’ve ever seen. It distracts me so much. But he needs to loosen up his trousers and let his boys breathe!”

Kelly also admitted that a few other X Factor stars have caught her eye, adding:

“I also fancy Marcus Collins, and Simon Cowell is obviously very handsome – but we’d bicker if we were on the same panel though.”

Someone should tell her that she has no chance with Marcus, as he’s had a boyfriend for the last four years!

Gary Barlow has claimed that he isn’t taking part in The X Factor, as a way to enhance his own career.

The Take That star joined the panel of the ITV show earlier this year and has been a huge hit with the audience and contestants alike ever since. However, while he confesses that most people signing up to work on reality TV series’, he thinks it’s a good thing that he’s not trying to launch his own music or products off the back of the format.

In an interview with The Guardian, the dad of three admitted that he’s ‘glad’ he isn’t striving to gain more exposure or celebrity status, explaining:

“People go on these panels to improve their career, or they’ve got something coming out.”

“I’m really glad I don’t have to go [he gives a cheesy grin]: ‘What a brilliant audition – now excuse me, everybody, I need to go and do my new single now’, or ‘Check out my new book. It’s in WH Smith!’ It’s funny because all the reasons someone would do this – the money, to become more famous – I’ve got them already. I’ve joined just because I wanted to.”

So what about next year? We think you’d all agree that Simon Cowell hasn’t been missed one bit with Gary in the driving seat and we’d love to see him back in 2012. Well, it’s a distinct possibility. He teased:

“I might do X Factor next year. It’s looking good that I won’t get the sack at Christmas.”

Gary Barlow has confirmed thgat Take That is a four piece band once more.

The group welcomed former band member Robbie Williams back to the fold for their Progress tour earlier this year, but he is now back working as a solo singer and planning a new album in 2012.

X Factor judge Gary told The Radio Times that their time as a five piece was ‘beautiful’ and added that Williams will be welcome to return at any stage in the future.

He said:

“It was beautiful. We got on well. We finished the tour. We’re all happy.”

However a Take That spokesperson clarified Gary’s comments and said that the group are simply ‘on a break’ and will be back.

“I can confirm that the band are not splitting and there is no pending announcement of a split,” he said.

Barlow told Radio Times: “The fans have come along and been happy. Great, great, great, great, great.

“Now Rob’s doing a solo record, and from this point it’s back to where it was.”

“You know what, we can revisit it whenever we want.

“He’s our brother, Rob is, and if he’s ever in trouble or he wants to have a year off being Robbie Williams, he’s welcome any time he wants.”

Speaking on The Xtra Factor last night, Gary revealed that he had even taken some time at X Factor judges houses, to work and write on Williams’ new record while staying with him in LA.

Gary Barlow has admitted that he agreed to become a judge on The X Factor because he knew his children would love it.

The Take That star is dad to Daniel, 11, Emily, 9, and Daisy, 2 but confessed that none of the kids love his normal day job, however the older one are elated now that he is starring on one of their favourite TV shows.

Speaking to The Sun Barlow confessed that during his Take That concerts, his children cna often be found playing computer games backstage, however they’re much more enthusiastic about his new role.

He explained:

“The reason I did The X Factor is because my kids love it and it’s so seldom your kids engage with what you’re doing work-wise.

“My son sits playing Nintendo all the way through my concerts. They’re not mad about what I do — but being a judge on The X Factor, they couldn’t believe it.

“They were absolutely made up.”

Gary recently filmed his judges houses stage of the ITV series, where he and bandmate Robbie Williams chose four out of his final eight acts for the upcoming live shows.

The singer confessed that the time alone with Rob made him realise what a good father his pal will be,m when he and wife Ayda decide to start a family. He added:

“Robbie will make a brilliant dad. He’s got the mind of an eight-year-old.”

Gary Barlow humiliated vulnerable X Factor contestant Ceri Rees when she auditioned for the show, it has been claimed.

Ceri, 54, made her fourth attempt to make bootcamp, by performing for the judges earlier this year and her tryout was featured, at length, on Sunday night’s episode. The deluded Welsh woman was genuinely shocked when the panel mocked her and refused to put her through to the next stage and since her appearance, many viewers have complained that she was exploited by the show. Even Lily Allen has spoken out on the subject.

However, more shocking details have emerged about Ceri’s appearance and some audience members who were present on the day say producers cut scenes in which Gary Barlow took Ceri’s handbag and rifled it through it while she was on stage.

He examined her passport, then joked ‘you won’t be needing that!’, before turning and laughing at the audience. But the mockery backfired and it is claimed that the audience began booing the Take That star, believing that he had gone too far.

Ashlei Swain, 26 was there on the day and told The Sun:

“It was so painful to watch. It went on for ages. Then after she’d finished Gary got up and sat with her.

“She had her handbag so Gary was going on about why it was so special. He started rifling through it and found her passport. He held it up and mocked her and tried to get the audience to laugh with him. But people were booing.”

It was also reported yesterday that Ceri’s friend, who offers her free vocal coaching lessons, called up X Factor bosses and begged them not to allow her to audition for the judges again, knowing that the whole thing would end badly. However, she said they yelled and shouted at her and refused to be persuaded to drop Rees from the lineup.

It may just work against them though, as Rees’ brother is now considering taking legal action against the ITV show and an insider said:

“He has been to see a solicitor. The family accept that Ceri was not forced to go on. But the programme makers have a responsibility to ensure that contestants are mentally and physically fit enough to take part.”

It seems that Take That’s Howard Donald decided to treat himself to a little something nice…

A seaplane!

So reports The Sun who also came up with that rather groovy picture above of what Howard’s plane might look like!

However, as Howard hasn’t yet taken flying lessons, his pressie-to-self could remain in a hangar for some time yet as it’s unlikely he’ll qualify to fly solo until 2013.

The paper reports that 43-year-old Howard spent around £50,000 on the American aircraft, which can land on water as well as on a normal runway.

A friend of Howard’s told the paper, “Howard is mad on flying and it’s always been his ambition to fly and own a plane.

“He’s gone about it the other way round and bought an amphibious plane before he’s had lessons.

“The tour has lined his pockets with some decent wedge, so he’s splashed out.

“But any of his mates who were hoping for some Top Gun-style trips with him will have to wait.

“He doesn’t reckon he’ll get his licence before 2013. Probably just in time for the next Take That tour!”

However, his band-mate and X Factor judge Gary Barlow isn’t likely to want to fly with Howard when he does get his pilot’s credentials as he recently admitted, “I don’t like aeroplanes – not a fan.”

Robbie Williams really was on form at last weekend’s Take That concert in Dublin’s Croke Park.

The whole Unreality TV team were at the gig and were one and all stunned by the stage presence and aura of the sometimes troubled performer. One of our favourite moments of the night (apart from when Robbie promised his Irish fans a free concert!) was when the newly married singer made up a little ditty for the crowd.

You can watch the full video below, but in the short tune Robbie jokes about the recent use of super injunctions by celebrities – a touchy subject considering his bandmate Howard Donald got one last year – and teased fans that Jason Orange may be gay.

Later on he reprimanded a Gary Barlow fan for having ‘a face like a slapped arse’ and told her ‘if he can forgive me, so can you!’
