Terry Wogan has admitted that he would like Ann Widdecombe to quit Strictly Come Dancing.

Despite being the lowest scored contestant on the BBC show, Widdecombe has never been placed in the bottom two and is extremely popular with the public.

Wogan has now pleaded with the former Tory MP to follow the example of John Sergeant, who withdrew from the show in 2008 when it became clear that he stood a good chance of making it as far as the final.

“Ann Widdecombe would be sensible to withdraw from Strictly Come Dancing,” Wogan told the Daily Mail. “She should do as John Sergeant did. He knew he couldn’t dance for toffee and he made way for people who could. Ann’s even worse than him. She can’t dance at all. She should fall on her sword.”

On members of the public voting for Ann, Terry added:

“They’re not basing their votes on whether she can shimmy across the floor. They’re basing their opinions on whether they like the look of the contestants or on what they’ve read in the tabloids. And, on occasion, they sometimes want to contradict the judges.

“Having said that, when it gets down to, say, four people – three of whom are half beating themselves to death trying to dance to the best of their ability and one of whom is Ann Widdecombe – I like to think the public will display a little common sense.”

TV veteran Terry Wogan has admitted that he is compelled to watch Strictly Come Dancing but only to make sure Bruce Forsyth is still alive.

The former Eurovision presenter calls the BBC reality TV show “must-see” telly – but for the wrong reason.

Wogan told Radio Times: “I have to watch Strictly Come Dancing, of course, because one does worry so for Bruce.”

Veteran Eurovision presenter Terry Wogan has said that he loved Graham Norton’s coverage this year.

Terry Werry bulgy pants told the Radio Times he thought the contest was “a spectacular show without a flaw in it”.

Terry stepped down from the show after the 2008 contest in Belgrade, where the UK’s entrant Andy Abrahams finished last. He felt the voting system was flawed and biased.

“Contrary to what is often believed I love Eurovision, or I couldn’t have presented it for as long as I did,” Sir Terry said.

“This year they sorted the voting out, and I thought Graham Norton was excellent.

“People have said his approach was rather like mine, and all I can say is I take that as a compliment.”

Sir Terry Wogan has hit out at cheap, modern TV shows saying that programming has deteriorated over the last fifty years. Terry is also unimpressed with the language of TV chefs like Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsay.

Wogan told the Sunday Mirror: “Television has changed. It’s not what it was like 50 years ago. Light entertainment is no longer the expensive quality that it used to be. It’s all quiz games, reality TV and talk shows.

“Talk shows these days are just cheap TV. In the same way that reality TV is cheap television that humiliates people.

“There’s no point saying there can’t be any humiliation, because the public seem to respond to it, it seems to be something they want. But then again the public liked mass executions as well, but we don’t do those any more. To be honest, I don’t know where we go from here.”

Wogan then turned his attention to the language of celebrity chefs like Gordon Ramsay and Jamie Oliver.

“I see people like Jamie Oliver use the F-word in an attempt to achieve what I think he assumes to be credibility and I think it’s reprehensible and demeaning,” he explained. “And in terms of someone like Gordon Ramsay it’s ultimately self-defeating.”

Sir Terry Wogan has revealed that he is considering leaving his role as Eurovision’s commentator because he thinks the votes show that it’s “no longer a music contest”.

Sir Terry who has been the Eurovision commentator since the 1970′s said “Russia were going to be the political winners from the beginning” as Eurovision 2008 came to an end.
