Tess Daly has revealed that despite reaching the Strictly Come Dancing final this weekend, Chelsee Healy does not yet believe that she is a good dancer.

The host of the BBC dance series – which will wrap up in a huge sparkly final in Blackpool Ballroom in just a few days time – admitted that she can’t believe how little the young Waterloo Road actress believes in herself, despite constantly being praised by the judging panel.

Tess told The Sun:

“Chelsee still doesn’t believe she’s an incredible dancer, despite being in the final three. Despite the lack of confidence, she is a fireball on the dancefloor, tearing it up with effortless aplomb. And she’s just so darn cute with it too!

“I love that she looks so elegant and ladylike in the ballroom, then she opens her mouth and it’s right proper northern! I can say that because she sounds like most of my family do. I just love her to bits.”

Bookies think there has been a large swell in support for busty Chelsee in recent weeks and are now tipping her as their second favourite to win. Harry Judd looks most likely to scoop the glitterball trophy, with Jason Donovan trailing in third place as experts claim his over competitiveness has put viewers off.

Strictly Come Dancing returns to our TV screens this weekend and on who would be her dream contestant for the BBC show, presenter Tess Daly confessed that she would love to work with Michael Caine.

The blonde beauty is keen to land the ‘Italian Job’ star for next year’s series and told The Sun’s Buzz magazine:

“Michael Caine once told me he was a big fan of the show and never misses an episode, ready when you are Michael!”

Tess loves a bit of Strictly romance too and confessed that there have been a number of secret relationships on the show. She laughed:

“There have been a lot of secret romances, but I loved Kara Tointon and Artem Chingvinstev last year.”

She revealed her top secret of how to look good on TV, saying:

“I’ll just put my control pants on and hope for the best, everyone in telly wears them!”

And on her most embarrassing moment, Tess giggled:

“My dress fell off my shoulder and exposed my nipple covers [and] I was standing in front of loads of people.” We feel for her!

Speaking at the Glamour Awards, Tess said, “They’re casting for it at the moment. It was big last year and it’s going to be even bigger and better this time.”

And when asked if she’d ever considered leaving the show, Tess said she hadn’t, and added, “They will have to wheel me out when I’m 75. I love it.”

Tess was then asked how Claudia Winkleman’s exit from Strictly spin-off show It Takes Two will affect her, given Tess co-presents the show with Claudia.

She said, “Fingers crossed she’ll keep doing the Sunday results show.

“I keep texting her about it. You never know with a baby.”

I assume Tess is referring to Claudia’s pregnancy as opposed to just calling her co-star a baby…

Tess Daly has confessed that there are always lots of secret affairs on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.

The blonde beauty, who hosts the BBC One reality TV show explained that she was glad when 2010 series winner Kara Tointon admitted she was dating her professional dance partner Artem Chigvintsev, because she said most of the romances stay under wraps and behind the scenes.

She said: “They are such a cute couple – but thank God that finally a couple came clean about it. There’s always tons of romance, but no one ever admits it.”

Other rumoured couples from the last series of the ballroom show include former soap star Tina O’Brien and rugby hunk Gavin Henson, while 2009 dancing partners Joe Calzaghe and Kristina Rihanoff admitted after the show had finished they had started a romance with each other.

Tess, who is married to fellow TV host Vernon Kay, also explained while he is currently working away in the US she has had to look after their children – Phoebe, six, and Amber, 18 months – on her own, which she feels will deserve a significant reward by the time he returns.

She added: “I worked out that I‘ve done 45 school runs on my own, so that’s worth at least a spa weekend! But I can’t see us upping sticks and moving to Los Angeles.

“A couple of months in the sunshine would be nice though.”

Series eight of Strictly Come Dancing will return with a live Saturday night competition followed by a Sunday night results show in which viewers will see their favourite competitors saved from elimination.

The Sunday night results show will be presented together by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.

BBC Controller of Entertainment Commissioning Mark Linsey says “Strictly pioneered the Sunday night results format and this year we’re back with the perfect finish to the weekend. Tess and Claudia were the obvious choices to present and we’re really proud that a fresh Strictly will return with must-see, family event television.”

The 30-minute results show will not feature a dance off, but will feature a pro-dance performance and the all-important elimination.

The first live competition shows will be split over October 1st and 2nd and won’t be followed by a results show. Instead, the judges will score the competitors to create a leader board, which will be carried over to the second week. Then the show will follow a Saturday night competition followed by Sunday night results format. This will allow audiences two weeks to decide on their favourite before voting.

Claudia Winkleman says “I’m properly excited about working alongside Tess on the Sunday results show. I’ll be fully immersed in all things tango and sequin as I’m still hosting It Takes Two weeknights on BBC2 too. They’ve just told me the line-up. One word. Excited.”

Series eight of Strictly Come Dancing will launch with a one-hour show on September 11th, and the first live show will transmit on October 1st. The first results show hosted by Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly will transmit on October 10th.

The Sunday Mirror reports that the show’s bosses expect Tess will have “the same sparkling on-screen chemistry” with Jason Manford as Bleakley had with Adrian Chiles.

Although 41 year old Tess may share the job with “roving reporter” Angellica Bell, as she fears a full-time commitment to the show could interfere with her Strictly role.

A BBC source told the paper, “Tess is the one they are after. She has the sort of face you’d want to switch on to after a day at work…

“But there are questions over how she will work round Strictly.

“One option is for Tess to anchor for most of the week with another presenter stepping in for one or two evenings.”

Tess Daly has denied rumours that she is being replaced on this years Strictly Come Dancing and insisted that she will be back.

Sources had suggested that Christine Bleakley would be replacing Tess as co-presenter of the BBC dance show but the star told The Mirror:

“I’m not leaving Strictly. I love it too much.

And I’m just glad so many people enjoy the show.”

“There’s no truth in the rumours. I’m staying put.”

We can’t say that we’re delighted about that news. We’d much prefer Ms Bleakley!

BBC bosses are reportedly considering asking Christine Bleakley to replace Tess Daly as presenter of Strictly Come Dancing.

The Northern Irish woman currently fronts The One Show for the channel, but is thought to being wooed by other TV networks who want to poach the enigmatic star. She competed in series six of the dancing show.

Strictly has been fronted by Tess Daly and Bruce Forsyth since it’s inception in 2004 but bosses are said to be planning a major overhaul of the show which will see many of the professional dancers replaced and possibly the presenters too.

A senior BBC source told The Mirror: “Big changes are afoot. Tess and Bruce are at the heart of the Strictly family and are dearly loved by fans and staff alike.

“But they’ve fronted the show for over half a decade now and no one can go on forever. So plans are being drawn up for when that day comes.”

Bosses are hoping that the offer of such a high profile show, will keep Christine in the BBC family.

The source added: “This is a very tempting offer and a clear shot across the bows to ITV and anyone else looking to lure Christine.

“They will really have to raise their game if they even want to be in with a sniff of snaring the BBCs rising stars.”

Tess Daly has claimed that more than one couple are getting it on, backstage on Strictly.

Writing in her column for The Mirror, Daly commented: “There’s love in the air backstage with more than one romance in the making. Mum’s the word, but keep tuned. Not surprising when you consider the physical proximity of dancing and the time spent locked in sweaty training rooms.”

She added: “It’s great to see some of our Strictly relationships last. Actor Matt Di Angelo and Flavia [Cacace] are still going strong. And another Strictly relationship – they met at the show – singing star Katherine Jenkins and presenter Gethin Jones are very happy together.

“So I live in hope of Strictly wedding bells, after all the dancing and the dresses are bound to be fabulous.”

So I’m watching Strictly Come Dancing tonight and as if Bruce’s jokes aren’t bad enough, Tess Daly’s wonky eye and unbalanced boobs freaked me out big time. It doesn’t help that she can’t actually present live TV shows, with any semblance of flair.

Tess obviously came from the Kate Thornton school of TV presenting and believes that all lines must appear scripted and any sign of human warmth or spontaneity must be avoided at all costs.

On the other hand Claudia Winkleman, who presents the show’s spinoff ‘It Takes Two’, is quirky, genuinely funny and both her eyes look the same. Can I suggest her as a replacement for Mrs Vernon Kaye on next year’s series?
