Tess Daly has claimed that more than one couple are getting it on, backstage on Strictly.

Writing in her column for The Mirror, Daly commented: “There’s love in the air backstage with more than one romance in the making. Mum’s the word, but keep tuned. Not surprising when you consider the physical proximity of dancing and the time spent locked in sweaty training rooms.”

She added: “It’s great to see some of our Strictly relationships last. Actor Matt Di Angelo and Flavia [Cacace] are still going strong. And another Strictly relationship – they met at the show – singing star Katherine Jenkins and presenter Gethin Jones are very happy together.

“So I live in hope of Strictly wedding bells, after all the dancing and the dresses are bound to be fabulous.”

So I’m watching Strictly Come Dancing tonight and as if Bruce’s jokes aren’t bad enough, Tess Daly’s wonky eye and unbalanced boobs freaked me out big time. It doesn’t help that she can’t actually present live TV shows, with any semblance of flair.

Tess obviously came from the Kate Thornton school of TV presenting and believes that all lines must appear scripted and any sign of human warmth or spontaneity must be avoided at all costs.

On the other hand Claudia Winkleman, who presents the show’s spinoff ‘It Takes Two’, is quirky, genuinely funny and both her eyes look the same. Can I suggest her as a replacement for Mrs Vernon Kaye on next year’s series?

Strictly Come Dancing host Tess Daly has revealed that the show’s stars are petrified about this weeks launch of the show and also at the prospect of leaving first.

Writing in her column for The Mirror, Daly commented: “Of course my big news is that Strictly is back on Friday and on Saturday we’ll lose our first couple. They’re pretty much all petrified and none of them want to be the first to leave.

“For me one of the most thrilling moments is seeing them all together for the first time on the dance floor.”

The presenter also revealed that the show becomes a big event in her home, with her foru year old daughter dressing up for the night.

“She’s going to put her best dress on to watch it on the telly, which I thought was lovely,” Daly explained. “When I told her we were on Friday and Saturday for the first couple of weeks she was over the moon because that meant she got to wear two.”

Tess Daly has admitted that she had a very emotional day when her 4 year old daughter started school this week.

Writing in her column for The Mirror, the Strictly presenter revealed: “I was an emotional wreck watching her go, mopping my damp eyes at the school gates with all the other mums.

“I couldn’t help but remember my own school days, clock-watching for what seemed like an eternity till the bell rang at 3.30pm.

“It must seem twice as long when you’re 4! Still, she raced off without a backward glance, as I took a deep breath and tried to repair my smudged mascara.”

New mum Tess Daly has admitted that she is really excited about the new series of Strictly Come Dancing.

The show’s presenter wouldn’t spill the beans on any of the stars being lined up but did admit that some of the pairings were very exciting.

Writing in her column for The Mirror, Daly commented: “It’s coming around again – Strictly will be back on our screens next month and I can’t wait.

“I’ve been getting the: ‘You have to tell me which celebs are taking part this series’. Sorry, I can’t! The lineup is still being confirmed but I can reveal there are already some dynamite pairings.”

On her fashion plans, she added: “I’ve been discussing outfits with my Strictly stylist to come up with a look for this year’s show. This season’s trends are all high-octane glamour – even diamante is making a comeback! So I’m not short of inspiration.”

Pregnant TV presenter Tess Daly has insisted that she will be back to present this years Strictly extravaganza, despite rumours that the role was going to Alesha Dixon.

Tess’s baby is due in June which leaves her 12 weeks to prepare for the show. A pal told The Sun: “The baby’s well-timed for the show.”

The BBC are rumoured to have asked Alesha Dixon to stand in as presenter of this years Strictly Come Dancing to cover for pregnant Tess Daly.

Dixon won the show in 2007 and has seen her career grow from strength to strength ever since. Bosses are hoping that her presence on the show will help recapture some if the younger audience which seemed to defect to X Factor during the last series.

A BBC source told The Mirror: “Alesha is one of Strictly’s most popular winners and very much part of the Strictly ‘family’.

“Bosses hope that she will help give the show a bit of a shake-up alongside Bruce Forsyth.

“They have been keen for her to have a role on the show for some time but so far have struggled to find an opportunity to bring her in.

“But Tess’s pregnancy is the perfect opening.”

The source added: “Execs will be watching the audience reaction closely. But in talks they have told Alesha that if this proves successful then they see her as part of the future of the series in the longer term.”

Here’s hoping she replaces Daly on a permanent basis then, I never could warm to her or her smarmy hubby on screen.

Strictly Come Dancing host Tess Daly has pledged her support for John Sergeant following recent criticism of his performance in the competition.

John has received low scores from the show’s judges in recent weeks, but the broadcaster has continually been saved by the public vote.

Bruno Tonioli recently revealed that he’s “appalled” with the public voters who have supported John, adding, “I don’t understand it. It’s a dancing competition.”

Writing in her column for The Mirror, Tess hit back saying, “He may not be the best dancer but he’s adorable and people power is keeping him in the show. At the end of the day, it’s not BBC Sport – it’s an entertainment show.

“Dancing talent will eventually prevail in the competition, but for now people enjoy watching John dance. He has the feelgood factor and, with the recession, we could all do with a bit of that.”

Tess Daly has assured people that she is not pregnant, but that her Strictly Come Dancing dresses make her look fat.

Tess says she is inundated by texts from her friends each Saturday night after she appears on the show asking if she is expecting a new baby.

Speaking to The Sun, she said: “I tell them, ‘No, I’m not. It’s just a fat belly. Leave me alone’.”

Strictly Come Dancing host, Tess Daly, has defended her co-presenter Bruce Forsyth against people who have been calling him doddery and trying to get him off the show.

“I actually think it’s very disrespectful to talk a man out of a job that he is good at, that he loves,” Daly told the Daily Mail. “Let’s not forget that Bruce has been in the entertainment business for more than six decades. He is a legend in his own right, and there should be respect for that.

“These people who say otherwise, well, let’s look at their CVs compared to his and see who comes out on top.”

Daly also revealed that she is the most controlling out of the pair because Bruce refuses to wear an earpiece when presenting.

“You have to stick to your schedule, come hell or high water, and that sort of direction comes from the gallery,” she explained. “I’m the one who wears the earpiece – so they all yell at me, then I have to chivvy Bruce along.”
