ITV sources have confirmed that ice disaster Todd Carty will be returning for this years Dancing On Ice final.

A show source told The Sun: “Todd is definitely returning — but we are not sure what routine he will do. We might have to up our insurance policy if he does Help! again.”

Todd Carty may have bee voted off ITV’s Dancing On Ice, but he revealed on This Morning that he will not be hanging up his skates for good.

Show bosses have booked the former Eastenders star for the nationwide tour, despite the fact that they normally reserve that privilege for people who make it to the later stages of the show.

On yesterday’s This Morning Jason Gardiner revealed that he was glad Todd had left as he felt he was playing the clown too often.

He said: “When comedy is done for real it is funny, but if you try to ham it up as a clown it’s no longer funny. It’s irritating.”

But Todd hit back, saying: “I don’t make up my routines. The guys gave me that routine. Maybe you should have been there.”

Todd may have been tipped for the final, but it seems that in the first week where he was really able to skate alone, the public have grown fed up with his antics.

Todd found himself in the bottom two with Ellery, and to be honest, though I knew it wouldn’t happen, I really wanted the judges to send Ellery home. He may be a better skater than Todd but he has barely improved since week one, he’s already been in the skate off and he won’t last another week anyway. Todd’s routines are always a highlight of the show and I feel he will be sorely missed.

Dancing On Ice contestant, Todd Carty has denied that he is faking his awful performances on the ITV TV show.

Last week Michael Underwood claimed that all Todd’s stumbling on the ice was an act to get pity votes from the public, but Todd vehemently denies these claims.

However, in an interview with the Daily Star, Carty insisted: “You can plainly see that unless I was some secret Russian gymnastic skater it’s all real. You’d have to be really good and experienced to deliberately catch your toe pick and go flying into a tunnel – and I’m not. It was as natural as you saw it.”

He added: “I went much faster than in rehearsals and couldn’t stop. It was just panic, blind panic – I forgot all the basic skating. Being an actor the show must go on and I just wanted to get on for the end of the routine and by luck and a good shove from the assistant I got there just in time.”

Dancing On Ice competitor, Zoe Salmon, has said that Todd Carty is an inspiration to the British public.

Carty may be known for his mistakes on the ice but Northern Irish Zoe believes that, in time, he may end up as good as Ray Quinn…..as if!

“He is an inspiration,” she told The Sun. “Honestly, the amount of people watching it at home that maybe want to give ice dancing a go and they think, ‘Oh no, I might not be any good at it…’ Todd is there to say give it a go.

“And he may end up as good as, if not better than, Ray [Quinn]. We just can’t foretell anyone’s journey and their potential.”

Todd Carty might not be much of a skater, but the man certainly knows how to put on a show! However reports suggest that some of his backstage buddies are getting fed up with his antics and feel he is making a mockery of the show.

A show source told The Daily Star: “It was funny at first, but every week that Todd stays in it means someone who is much better and is developing their skills is getting kicked off.

“There’s only so long you can ride on being the class clown before it gets a bit tiring.

“The worst thing that could happen – and it is a distinct possibility – is that he will make the final.”

Dancing On Ice judge, Jason Gardiner has revealed that he is starting to be swayed by the appeal of contestant Todd Carty.

The caustic tongued judge may have been hard on Todd for the first few weeks but says that now he is starting to understand why the British public are behind him.

Gardiner told The Sun: “As much as I cringe, he’s a crowd pleaser.

“I’m coming to understand — although it’s taken me four series — that actually we all like to have a good laugh at somebody.

“He does go out there and commits to his routine — it’s just uncomfortable that his best is not that good.”

Dancing On Ice competitor Michael Underwood has hit out at Todd Carty for his on ice silliness saying that he is trying to mislead the viewers of the show.

Last week Todd was seen stumbling off the rink in what has to have been one of the most hilarious TV moments ever, but Underwood says that Carty is a much more skilled skater than he pretends to be.

“Todd is nowhere near as bad as he is making out,” Underwood told the Daily Star Sunday. “When the cameras are off he is gliding along the ice but then once the routine starts it’s like he can’t stay upright all of a sudden.

“He is definitely trying to play the clown and trying to fulfil the John Sergeant role.”

TV host Underwood also revealed that their are fears for the safety of Carty’s professional partner Susie Lipanova.

“Susie has actually talked about how worried she is about getting injured,” he explained. “OK, Todd’s clowning around is funny up to a point but she doesn’t want to get dragged down with him if one of the silly stunts goes wrong.

“At the end of the day he might be having fun but this is her career and she feels she’s taking a big risk skating with him.”

Jeremy Edwards has admitted that he thinks Todd Carty has a chance of winning this years Dancing On Ice.

“Todd is a ratings winner,” Edwards told the Daily Star. “Everyone will be saying: ‘What will Todd do next?’ They’ll have to think of something else for him to do. If you’re smart that’s what you do.

“It could be a Todd vs. Ray final and Todd could win.”

Jeremy also complained that his marks were only marginally higher than Todds when he was clearly a much more skilled skater. Bit of sour grapes there I think!
