Dancing On Ice: The Bolero

Dancing On Ice 2008: Jayne Torvill & Christopher Dean

I just watched Torvill and Dean perform ‘The Bolero’ on the Dancing On Ice final, and my heart is pounding in my chest.

I love to watch Torville and Dean skate at any time, but I especially look forward to this routine throughout the whole series, it is never one that gets old.

The pair look so at ease on the ice, and the whole routine, complicated as it is, looks completely effortless.

In reality I’m still not sure if my heart is pounding because of the magic of The Bolero, or because of Christopher Deans gorgeous bum in those tight skating trousers…..Yum!

Dancing on Ice: Kay Burley And Fred Palascak Leave The Show

Dancing On Ice

After a skate off between Clare Buckfield Dec’s (from Ant and Dec) long time (ex) girlfriend) and Andrei Lipanonov (who she is rumoured to be now dating) the judges chose the accident prone Kay to go. Kay seemed to have been underscored by the judges from beginning and even in the skate-off seemed to be the better skater of the two but at the end of the day, the judges have the final say, not the public.

A brilliant group show item was put on by all the contestants, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, which was outstanding. At first it looked like a show of professionals as the skating was of the highest standard with wonderful manoeuvres being faultlessly performed by all. When the ice show hits the road we will be in for a real treat. Duncan James has already signed up for this.
Next week we will be treated to the ‘Take That’ group playing two numbers during the show. Rugby player Kyran Bracken and Melanie Lambert received the top marks of 27 out of 30 although it was felt that Lee Sharpe and Frankie Poultney and Lisa Scott-Lee with Matt Evers, were every bit as good as Kyran and Melanie.

The costumes were superb with Kay and Lisa dressed as Western Saloon girls, Lisa wearing thigh high boots and both girls boasting sexy black garters.

The skating has become more and more daring as the competition hots up with the competitors vying to make the finals. At this stage anyone could win but the judges seem to favour Kyran and Melanie.

What will they have for us next week?

Jayne Torvill said: “It’s fantastic to be back after the success of the first series and we are looking forward to joining a new batch of celebrities on the ice.

Torvill And Dean Want Kirsty Gallacher For Dancing On Ice 2007

Jane Torvill has revealed that Kirsty Gallacher is top of her wish list for next years series of Dancing On Ice.

She told The Sun: “I think someone with a combination of grace and athleticism is what we’re looking for.

“Someone from The Games would be ideal because they do a lot of different activities. Kirsty Gallacher would be brilliant.”

Torvill And Dean Are To Perform ‘The Bolero’ On This Weeks Dancing On Ice Finale.

Torvill and Dean will perform the routine that won them an olympic gold medal and a score of perfect six marks from all 12 judges - a feat never achieved before or since.

Saturdays showcase of ‘The Bolero’ routine will be a slightly shorter version than their olympic effort

“The original version was four and a half minutes long, but Saturday’s will only last 90 seconds,” says Jayne. “But we’ll do many of the moves people will remember.

“We’ve sat down and watched the Bolero video with Faye, Bonnie and Stefan and they’ve been asked to create their own interpretations of it. We’ll help if they’re having problems, but are not worried they’ll ruin it. We’re not possessive about the Bolero.”

I can’t wait until saturday! Watching Jayne and Chris perform is the highlight of the evening in my opinion!
