Last year’s The Voice finalist Tyler James – who coach Will.i.am claimed was “the real winner” last year – has revealed that he’s excited for the show’s new series, but at the same time has confessed the crippling nervousness affected him a lot last year.
However, that hasn’t stopped him from hoping that he may be asked back this year to perform live.

While giving an interview to the BBC ahead of the second run of The Voice – which of course debuts on Saturday at 7pm – coach Will.i.am has claimed that he was in fact the winning coach last year as his former act, Tyler James, has gone on to enjoy great success.
But of course, Sir Tom Jones’ artist Leanne Mitchell actually won, though sadly, her career hasn’t exactly taken off since the show ended.

It’s been revealed today that The Voice UK mentor Will.i.am is to collaborate with singer Tyler James on his forthcoming album.
The pair did in fact previously work together for Tyler’s debut album – which he released following the end of The Voice’s first series on BBC1 last year – however in the end, Tyler ditched Will’s contribution.

Tyler James has revealed that his former coach will be back on The Voice next year.
The Black Eyed Peas star signed a two year contract with the BBC show earlier this year, however it was reported that the legal document included a get out clause which bosses could use if they felt any of the panel weren’t striking the right chord with the viewers.
After his incessant tweeting and constant jetting in and out of the country while the series aired, insiders reported that producers were considering replacing the ‘I Got A Feeling’ hitmaker, however former The Voice finalist has insisted that this isn’t the case.

As fans of The Voice UK will know, finalist Tyler James was tragic Amy Winehouse’s best friend, and today it’s been reported that Island Records, who signed Amy when she was at the start of her career, have also signed Tyler.
However, he has in fact been previously signed to Island, but he was dropped from the label in 2005, so he’s now hoping to make a victorious comeback with his first post-Voice album, which will go on sale later this year.
Tyler has been busy writing songs for the album for months, and he’s also been working with his The Voice mentor Will.i.am who’s apparently penned tracks for Tyler’s album.
Speaking to the PA about singing up with Island, and his debut album, Tyler said, “I’m loving being in the studio – but can’t wait to share the music I’m making with the people who have helped me get to this point…” Read more & comment »

Leanne Mitchell has failed to take the charts by storm, with her debut single.
After the former holiday cap entertainer won The Voice last weekend, her version of Whitney Houston’s ‘Run To You’ was released via iTunes, for fans of the show to download.
However, it got off to a slow sales start, with Bo Bruce’s EP rocking into the album top ten, while Leanne’s release failed to make it into the top 20 by the time the midweek results were revealed.

Will.i.am has admitted that he is keen to return to The Voice next year but is worried that BBC bosses will sack him from the lineup.
The Black Eyed Peas star acted as a coach on the brand new UK version of the show this year, mentoring contestants such as Tyler James and Jaz Ellington.
James made it as far as the final three on Saturday night but was beat by Leanne Mitchell to the winner’s title and the record deal and next year Will wants to do it all over again.

The Sun today has exclusive footage of The Voice finalist Tyler James – who of course lost out on winning the show last night to Leanne Mitchell – singing with his lifelong friend Amy Winehouse when they were just teenagers.
The clip – which you can see by clicking here to view it in another window – features Tyler and Amy singing a cover of Michael Jackson’s Earth Song during a presentation at the Sylvia Young school in 1998.
The paper adds, “It was a special end of year show for parents only, which involved every student from all years.”
And as fans of The Voice will know, Tyler has credited the show with brining him back from the brink of what could have been a very self-destructive depression.

After what we thought was a pretty amazing series, The Voice has come to an end and the first ever UK winner had been chosen.
Leanne Mitchell, Bo Bruce, Vince Kidd and Tyler James all performed on tonight’s final, and half an hour before the end of the episode it was revealed that Vince had attracted the lowest amount of public votes and was being eliminated in fourth place.
Bo, Leanne and Tyler went on then to perform their favourite songs from the series, with Mitchell taking on ‘Run To You, James crooning ‘Higher Love’ and Bruce performing ‘Charlie Brown.

Tyler James has just performed for the last time on The Voice.
Amy Winehouse’s ex was asked to pick his favourite song from the series, to perform for his last ditch attempt to win public votes and opted to sing ‘Higher Love’ for the coaches and audience once more.
After Vince Kidd’s elimination, the London born singer was up against stunning singer Bo Bruce and powerhouse belter Leanne Mitchell for the winner’s title and the record contract.
