X Factor stars Jedward were shell shocked on a trip home yesterday when pop superstars Westlife asked for their autographs.
The boys were flying from London to Dublin when they were approached by the Irish boyband.
An X Factor source told The Mirror: “John and Edward were shell-shocked when the Westlife boys asked for their autographs on the plane. Talk about a role reversal – they were absolutely gobsmacked.”
Westlife have most definitely appeared on X Factor more than any other group. They have mentored, advised, sang and tonight they performed their brand new single, ‘What About Now’.
Westlife singer Mark Feehily has said that the late Stephen Gately was incredibly brave and admitted that his coming out. helped other gay men come to terms with their own sexuality.
Feehily told The Daily Mail: “He was extremely brave. He was the first member of a boyband to come out and in hindsight it helped me and probably lots of other gay lads understand their sexuality and come out.
“There is a cliché about gays and every time a celebrity who is admired by millions of people comes out it is one more blow to the negative cliché, and people understand there is not a whole lot of difference between gay people and themselves.”
Westlife’s Mark Feehily has admitted that he is nervous about the bands upcoming performance on X factor this Sunday.
The Daily Mail reports that singer Feehily said “There is always something a little bit scary about the ‘X Factor’ stage. It’s so huge and you have the judges in front of you. It’s like being a teenager at your first audition.
If there is one theme I HATE on X Factor it has to be big band week. But The Radio Times is reporting that next week, the contestants will face “the challenge of singing with a full orchestra”.
I can just see it now, Jamie Afro singing ‘Would You Like To Swing On A Star’ and Miss Frank attempting ‘My Way. How very horrendous!
Michael Bublé and Westlife, who coincidentally happen to have new singles on the horizon, are rumoured to be the celebrity guests.
Michael Bublé commented: “It’s great to be back in the UK again and on THE biggest TV show there is……I remember last time having such a laugh hanging out with Rhydian and Leon and the rest of the crew, all hugely talented and great fun to be with. And it all finished with me having Leon up on stage singing “Home” with me at Wembley. Amazing. Perhaps we do the same thing again this time around?!”
On the X Factor final last Saturday night, Louis Walsh kindly offered Simon Cowell a two for one deal on boybands and brought both Boyzone and Westlife along to duet with the male finalists. Word is that Westlife were last minute replacements for Rihanna, but those rumours are as yet unconfirmed.
When we got the news I didn’t know whether to be glad or sad for Eoghan Quigg. He was to sing with Boyzone, who lets face it were never great vocalists. I wasn’t sure whether the boys would bring Eoghan down or whether he would spectacularly out-sing them making us realise that if Boyzone could be famous then young Eoghan was certainly able for the job.
Westlife have been lined up to appear on this weeks X Factor show, and the band will be giving an exclusive performance of a brand new track.
Mark Feehily told Sky Showbiz: “We’re going to perform a track off our album. It’s not going to be ‘Home’, it’s just a track – an exclusive performance. It’ll be funny singing for Simon (Cowell) and Louis (Walsh). It always is.”
They are planning on a programme of death by reality TV show! Westlife last week performed their new track, Home, on Strictly Come Dancing. You can watch the boys below.
They are also penned in to make an appearance on the X factor later this year, no doubt to promote their new album in time for Christmas. I wonder if we will see them in the Australian jungle any time soon?
Superstars Robbie Williams, Elton John and Westlife , are reportedly set to coach the X factor finalists later this year.
During the competition each if the three categorys (under 25, over 25 and groups) will be whittled down to just twelve acts. it is these lucky twelve that can look forward to some world class advice fropm some of the music business’ top stars.
The Sunday Mirror reported that Robbie Williams will assist in coaching the 16-25 year-olds, Westlife will advise the groups and Elton John will coach the over 25s.
A source told the newspaper: “Simon said he wanted this series to be the biggest and best yet. This is a massive coup.”
But before you get too excited, don’t believe all you read in the papers, these guys seem pretty convinced that Robbie won’t be doing it. Is he just trying to throw us off the scent? Who knows! We’ll just have to wait and see!
