Westlife returned to the X Factor stage tonight, for their fourth live performance on the show.

The Irish band have appeared on every series of the ITV show since 2008 and in comparison to Coldplay – who will perform on the show for the first time this evening – they are old hands at all this reality TV stuff!

To celebrate their farewell tour and Greatest Hits album, Nicky Byrne, Kian Egan, Mark Feehily and Shane Filan took to the stage this evening to perform their hit single ‘What About Now.’

It wasn’t a bad rendition and we were quite impressed with the group because, for once, there was not a stool in sight! It all seemed a little familiar however and then we realised, they performed the same song when they were on the ITV show back in 2009…..couldn’t they have pulled something new out of the bag? After all, this could be their last time on The X Factor…why not make it special?

The most interesting part of the performance was the montage of clips playing behind Westlife. It showed some of the most memorable bits of the series to date and we hadn’t realised how much we were missing Craig Colton and Janet Devlin until we saw their little faces again!

View the original post X Factor 2011 Final: Westlife perform What About Now ….again! (VIDEO) on Unreality TV

It has been reported that X Factor bosses are saving the two biggest acts from it’s final lineup to perform on tomorrow night’s series grand finale.

While Leona Lewis, Michael Buble, One Direction and JLS will all take to the stage this evening, when the live shows hit Wembely Arena, Coldplay and Westlife will perform tomorrow evening, just before the series winner is announced.

Coldplay were reportedly supposed to be duetting with Janet Devlin if she made the final, but insiders say that when she was eliminated, they refused to perform with another hopeful and will now be singing one of their own tracks before the result is revealed.

It is thought that the final two contestants who make it through to Sunday’s show, will each perform a Christmas song of their choosing and their own version of the winners’ single, which is thought to be Damien Rice’s Cannonball.

Westlife are coming back to the X Factor…yes again!

The boys have performed on the ITV show more than a lot of the contestants and earlier today they confirmed that they will be returning to the stage for this week’s grand finale.

The show will be staged in Wembley Arena on Saturday and Sunday night and on their official Twitter feed, Westlife revealed:

“We are excited to announce that Westlife will be performing on @TheXFactor final this Sunday11th December on ITV1!”

The band started their own X Factor journey with a performance of “I’m Already There”, they returned in 2008 to perform in the series finale with JLS, in 2009 the boys showcased ‘What About Now’ on the ITV show and last year they made a comeback with ‘Safe.’

Westlife will perform on Sunday’s X Factor show, when the final two contestants will go head to head for the title. Yesterday Mark Feehily Tweeted: “Better start warming up my vocal chords for Sunday night.”

Other stars lined up for the live shows include Leona Lewis, Coldplay, Michael Bublé, JLS and One Direction. There were some rumours that either Adele or Mariah Carey would be singing also, but these are as yet unconfirmed.

Little Mix, Amelia Lily and Marcus Collins are busy bees this week, visiting thier hometowns and trying to whip up support ahead of the weekend.

Shane Filan has admitted that while he is a big Marcus Collins fan, he didn’t particularly enjoy his final performance on last night’s X Factor semi final.

The former hairdresser got great feedback from the judges after his first performance of the classic track ‘My Girl but after his rendition of ‘Can You Feel It’ they weren’t quite so positive and said that ‘something was missing.’

Wesylife star Shane agrees and on last night’s Xtra Factor explained:

I enjoyed his first performance and I thought the second one, the vocals were a bit low for him. I think he’s very good but the second song could have been better.

When he was singing high in My Girl, some of the falsetto stuff he was doing was incredible. I think he started off so low on the second one that he looked uncomfortable.

However Daybreak presenter Adrian Chiles was more positive and thinks Marcus has what it takes to become a big star. He said:

When he first appeared I thought this lad is like Little Richard and a young Prince rolled into one.

He added:

He’s lived a bit, he’s been a hairdresser, he knows what it’s like to work and he seems to be made of the right stuff to really make a go of it, if he does win the whole thing.

Shane Filan has admitted that he is a big fan of Amelia Lily’s on The X Factor.

The Westlife star was in London’s Fountain Studios last night, watching all the final four perform on the semi-final show and speaking afterwards on The X Factor, he admitted that the 17 year old blew him away.

Amelia started her performances with an upbeat rendition of Ain’t No Mountain High Enough and finished with an emotional version of I’m With You and afterwards, Shane commented:

She’s a great talent and both of her songs tonight were amazing. Both of her vocals were very powerful, she looks like she loves being on the stage, she really enjoys it….you can see it.

View the original post X Factor 2011: Westlife’s Shane Filan thinks Amelia Lily is a ‘great talent’ on Unreality TV

Louis Walsh was said to be ‘devastated’ when he found out that Westlife were breaking up.

The Irish star put the band together more than a decade ago and has managed them ever since, but as they plan their final goodbye tour, Shane Filan from the group admitted that their mentor was less than happy when they broke the news.

He told The Sun’s TV Buzz:

“For Louis, Westlife are the success story of his life; his pride and joy. He’s very protective of us.”

“He’s devastated that Westlife are ending, but he knows we’re right to leave while we’re still at the top.”

X Factor boss Simon Cowell has also had a huge impact on the success of Westlife and the singer added:

“We wouldn’t be sat here today without Simon. If Westlife ever get back together, the first person we should do it with is Simon Cowell. He picked every hit we had for 14 years.”

The boys also admitted that they considered asking Brian McFadden to return to the group for their farewell tour, but decided against it in the end. Kian Egan explained why they couldn’t have their big Take That moment, saying:

“We might bring Brian back if he was a big as Robbie Williams…but he’s not.”

” A part of me does think it would be a great moment for him to walk back on stage. I just don’t think that’s now – maybe in the reunion in 20 years time. We’ve had to make such a big decision to bring the biggest thing in our lives to an end, and it’s the four of us who have kept it together.”

Being a member of one the most famous boy bands in the UK, Kian explained the boys did get up a bit of mischief in their years. He laughed:

“We made a real error with a drinking session in Dublin. It was a Friday and we were supposed to fly to the UK the next morning. We cancelled the show and got battered by Louis.”

On the subject of The X Factor, Kian admitted that he doesn’t see a star in any of this year’s bunch and thinks boyband The Wanted have a better chance of success.

“The Wanted have a better chance than any of them contestants, because they’ve come up the ranks slowly and gone into music the normal way. I’m not sure I’d want to be part of a boy band via The X Factor,” he mused.

So what does the future hold for the Westlife boys? Kian will be a dad in 2012 and Shane admitted:

“I’d love to keep singing after Westlife. I have absolutely zero plans, as you’ve got to get a record deal first, but it’ll be sorted out over the next nine months. Deep down, we all know that we still have to work. None of us wants to retire at 32 years old.”

Mark is going to be busy planning his wedding and went on:

“My wedding will be next year at some point when we can do it properly. We’ve got nothing to prove to anyone, so we’ll get married in our own time, but we do want it to be as soon as possible.”

The Westlife lads will be sure to celebrate their last night together as Shane explained:

“No partners, no managers, no anybody. Just us four.”

Sounds like they could get up to mischief again.

Now that Westlife is disbanding Nicky Byrne finds himself at a bit of a loose end and he knows just how he wants to fill the gap.

The blonde singer has had enough of music for the time being and wants to try his hand at TV presenting and he’s eyeing up Dermot O’Leary’s X Factor job.

The 33 year old told The Daily Star that he’s love to host a popular show like the ITV series and given that Simon Cowell used to be his record label boss, he has contacts in all the right places.

On how his focus has shifted, the singer said:

“It’s funny with The X Factor because in the past we’d be looking at the bands and how they perform, but this year I’m looking more at Louis and Dermot to see what they do.”

“I’m keen to do more TV presenting and I can see myself getting into a Dermot O’Leary kind of role. Presenting a show like that is something I would like to do.

“I’ve a good relationship with Simon, despite everything. I texted him when we left the label and it’s all amicable now.

“Maybe down the road, me doing X Factor would be a very interesting conversation to have with him.”

Somehow we don’t think Dermot should be quaking in his boots just yet. Maybe Nicky should try out for The Voice instead!

Louis Walsh never struck us as the loyal type, but it seems that he does feel very strongly about Irish man band Westlife.

The Irish star has managed the group – consisting of Nicky Byrne, Kian Egan, Mark Feehily, Shane Filan and formerly Brian McFadden – since 1998 and admitted in a recent interview that he once fell out with his fellow X Factor judge Cheryl Cole when she slagged the boys off.

No doubt Cole made a remark about the cheesy music, the use of stools or the predictable key changes in Westlife songs, but Louis was having none of it and speaking to heat magazine, Walsh said he couldn’t put up with “derogatory” comments about the boyband.

He said:

“Cheryl and I had a few rows on camera but not many off-camera.

“She once said something derogatory about Westlife and no-one slags Westlife off, I am their manager and I love them”

The grey haired star – who was the only original judge to return to The X Factor this year – has also claimed some of the credit for bringin Destinys Child star Kelly Rowland on as Dannii Minogue’s replacement.

He insists that he told Simon Cowell she would be a great addition to the show three years ago, explaining:

“Three years ago, I said to Simon, ‘You know who would be a good judge? Kelly Rowland’, and Simon was like, ‘Really?’.

“She’s done it all. She knows how to sing and how to dance. She is a star in her own right. She is incredible!”

However, Walsh wasn’t quite so complimentary about new judge Gary Barlow. In an interview with The Daily Mail, he claimed that the Take That star has his priorities wrong on The X Factor, because he’s actually looking for talent. He said:

‘Gary thinks he’s the new Simon but he’s not. He needs to realise The X Factor is a television programme, not a singing contest.’

‘A show like this needs characters to make it interesting. People like Kitty Brucknell. Everyone’s talking about her. It’s acts like her that make this show work and get people watching.’

Westlife recently announced that they were leaving Simon Cowell’s record label and this week they explained that they felt they no longer had his attention or dedication.

The Irish boyband signed with The now X Factor boss before he was famous himself and speaking to The Sun, Nicky Byrne said that once his focus shifted to his hugely popular TV shows, he lost interest in their careers.

The hunky singer said:

“We signed to Simon back in 1998 and he was brilliant, but then came the development of X Factor and American Idol.

“Simon became famous himself and his interests went that way rather than on Westlife.

“We almost felt a little bit unloved with Simon Cowell, if I was to be honest.”

Nicky went on to admit that they wanted a full time adviser and expert, saying:

“We had it with Simon but he got so busy and would do it at the very last minute and we needed someone who was on it all the time.”

Most of all, Westlife don’t want to be the guys with the ballads anymore. They want to compete with current and credible bands and Nicky explained:

“We have been tarnished with a very ballad brush but I’m not the boring guy who likes dressing in a suit and sitting on a stool so I’m not sure why we developed into that.

“It’s not always about recording a ballad and only a ballad.

“If we are going to keep up with the big pop stars then we have to think outside of the box. That’s what we’re doing now with our new team.”

Westlife have revealed that they have left Simon Cowell’s SYCO record label.

The Irish man band had been signed with the X Factor boss for 13 years but had become one of the few acts on the company’s books who weren’t reality TV stars.

The boys have admitted that it is now “time for a change” and The Sun claims that the crooners have penned a multi-million pound deal with Sony RCA.

Mark Feehily revealed the news on Twitter, telling his followers:

“Yes Gravity is the last album for us to make with Simon Cowell & his label.”

“We love&respect him&thank him for his part in WL! (sic)”

“Time for a new chapter. We are still very young&have lots of energy left in us so here’s 2 the future! New label, new lease of ‘life’!”

Nicky Byrne added: “Truth is yes we have moved on from Syco records after a fantastic 13years.. But it is time for a change and it’s very exciting..!”

With the departure of Westlife, SYCO will now look after the following artists:
