I always knew she was a feisty lady but no way would I have predicted that Ruth Lorenzo would turn her back on Simon Cowell to sign a record deal with his biggest rival.
Ruth has reportedly signed a £1 million deal with EMI/Virgin and a source told The Sun that she was blabbing the news at the launch of Jean-Christophe Novelli’s Costa del Sol restaurant at the weekend.
A guest at the bash said: “Ruth was a bit giddy with the free champagne and was telling everyone Simon was gutted she signed elsewhere. She said she wanted to sign with him because they got along so well during the X Factor. She said she would have loved to work with him.
Speculation is rife that Leon Jackson is about to cancel his UK tour after he drops out of two shows in Manchester and Blackburn.
The former X Factor winner was supposed to kick off his 16-date ‘Right Now’ tour at Blackburn’s King Georges Hall on May 5, but the gig has now been cancelled.
The second show at Manchester Apollo on May 13 has also been cancelled, and Ticketmaster is no longer offering tickets to any more of Leon’s shows.
Today is our lucky day! Normally we only hear from X Factor’s first winner Steve Brookstein once a year (around the time of the X Factor launch coincidentally) but he has saw fit to crawl out from under his rock this week to defend poor old Leon Jackson.
Leon was unceremoniously dumped by his record label this week and they didn’t even do him the favour of phoning to tell him. No, sad old Leon had to read the news in The Sun. Of course Steve Brookstein went through a similar ordeal back in 2005 so he decided to write in support of Leon on his own personal blog.
Brookstein blustered: “If they cared anything about Leon they would have announced his departure after his tour and not before it, they would have kept his fans informed, his website up-to-date, and not put comments from Simon into the press saying: ‘[He's a] nice guy but not gonna set the world on fire, Rhydian should have won’.”
Rhydian Roberts has come out in support of his former X Factor star Leon Jackson who was dropped by his record company last week.
“Leon is a great guy. I wish him well and I’m sure he’ll do fine in the future,” Roberts told the Daily Record.
“People are always trying to see if there is any conflict between us or whether we are still in competition. There probably was competition in The X Factor because that’s what it was all about. But Leon is a gent and he won fair and square.
Former X Factor winner Leon Jackson has been dropped by his record label after only one album.
Leon released his debut album last autumn and went on to sell only 130,000 copies. In contrast the series runner up Rhydian Roberts sold a whopping 500,000 copies of his classical record.
A source close to Simon Cowell told The Sun: “He thought the most talented person should have won. That was never Leon and what has happened since has proved him right. Leon’s a good lad, but he’s definitely not set the world alight.”
X Factor winner Leon Jackson has admitted that he is dating Emily Biggs from girlgroup, Hope.
The pair met on last years show when Emily’s band Hope competed with Leon for the shows title.
“We are dating. It is a very recent thing so I’m sorry to break everybody’s heart,” Jackson told the Daily Record.
“We’ve been friends since the show and have always kept in touch. Now she lives quite near me so it’s great because we have got to really know each other,” said Jackson.
Simon Cowell is said to be tipping last years X Factor winner, Leon Jackson as the new Robbie Williams. I can’t see it myself!
Leon, 19, told The Daily Star: “Simon is over the moon with my new album and has been saying I’m a cross between Michael Buble and Robbie Williams. I’m like: ‘Calm down, Simon’.
“I didn’t worry that I didn’t capitalise on the success of the show by getting an album out straight away. I didn’t want to rush out a collection of covers. Read more & comment »
X Factor runners up, Same Difference, have been offered a £1 million record deal by Simon Cowell’s record company, Syco, according to The Sun.
The brother and sister duo had originally been offered a one single deal, which had been delayed, but reports now suggest that they will now release a full album which will include songs that have been written by previous X Factor winner, Leona Lewis.
Same Difference’s Sarah said: “We were on the train to London when we got the call.
“I think we probably deafened all the passengers because we were screaming so much. Read more & comment »
Rhydian Roberts has been accused of plunging X Factor winner, Leon Jackson’s set into darkness at a recent X Factor show.
The pair are currently touring the UK with a number of other XF finalists and Niki Evans has revealed to The Daily Star that she suspects Rhydian was intentionally behind an electrical malfunction during Leon’s last performance.
Niki, 35, who finished fourth, said: “At the end of his performance Rhydian jumps off the stage and runs around the side to make way for Leon.
“But the other night he happened to run around the wrong way and step on a plug which turned all the bloody electrics off.” Read more & comment »
X Factor runner up, Rhydian Roberts has been snubbed by his national rugby team, after he was banned from singing the national anthem before a game.
Previously, Rhydian had previously been asked to perform at a major game, but in a massive u turn this week, executives have now dropped him from the programme.
A WRU spokesman said: “Our focus now is on using community choirs.”
Rhydian’s uncle Nigel Roberts told The People: “It is astonishing. We feel the WRU has messed up.”
X Factor runner up Rhydian Roberts has admitted that he is still celibate despite the fact that he has been dating Simon Cowell’s makeup artist for the last few months.
He told The Sun: “She is OK with my celibacy. She has understanding, because she has a similar faith, which is nice.
“If people think I’m weird or whatever for not sleeping with a girl, so be it, I’ll sleep with the person I feel in love with, when I find that person and decide to marry. You can’t have a faith and try to compromise. Read more & comment »
Many rumours have circulated the tabloids recently, claiming that X Factor runner up, Rhydian Roberts had been signed up to star in the new Phanton Of The Opera stage show.
However, in an interview with The Sun today, Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, creator of the show denies having ever approached the white haired singer saying:
“I wouldn’t have thought so. I’ve never heard him sing.”
