Many tabloids and fans have hit out at X Factor winner Leon Jackson for cancelling gigs over the New Year due to tonsillitis.

Leon is said to upset by the criticism, and feels it is unfair as he is genuinely to ill to sing.

“Leon has come under a lot of criticism for cancelling gigs but he is very ill,” one pal told the Sunday Mail. “His doctor has told him he must stop using his voice until he is fully better or he will have to have the op. X Factor: Leon Jackson Will Take It Slow

Leon Jackson will be following the Leona Lewis path to success, after winning the X Factor in December. SYCO will not be rushing out his debut album, the young artist will instead spend around one year working on the record, and will not release any new music in that time.

A source close told the Daily Star yesterday: “Mistakes were made with past X Factor winners.

“But the team behind Leon is determined to get it right.

“Album work with Syco will be a long process, just like it was with Leona.

X Factor: Leon Jackson Pulls Out Of Hogmany Celebrations

X Factor winner, Leon Jackson has pulled out of a show at tonights Edinburgh Hogmany celebrations due to illness.

Leon will be unable to sing for the next two weeks due to a bad bout of tonsilitis.

Leon said: “I’m just disappointed to be letting people down, but it wouldn’t feel nice to get on stage and not be able to deliver.”

The 19-year-old had the Christmas number one single with When You Believe.

X Factor: Rhydian Roberts and Same Difference Dropped Like Hotcakes

Being an X Factor runner up isn’t all its cracked up to be. You go from having every minute of every day planned out for you before the shows final, then the day after the show ends the staff are nowhere to be seen, and no one wants to know you.

A journalist from Same Difference’s local newspaper happened to be with the duo on the morning after the grand finale, and told us that Sarah and Sean looked completely lost. They didn’t know if they should stay in the hotel or get ready to go home, and the X Factor crew that had been constantly with them for months had all suddenly disappeared.

X Factor winner, Leon Jackson is suffering from exhaustion after his schedule becomes more and more hectic.

A source close to Leon told The Daily Star:

“As soon as he won, Leon was whisked off to start his new superstar lifestyle and it’s been non-stop ever since.

“He is followed around constantly by TV crews and minders and is finding the whole exper-ience exhausting.

Same Difference Sign Record Deal With Simon Cowell

X Factor runners up, Same Difference, have scored a record deal with show judge, Simon Cowell.

However, the deal is a bit of a test, as the brother and sister group will only be signed for one single at first and will go on to record an album if the first track sells well.

“We have to sell loads and hopefully make number one before they will sign us for an album,” Sean Smith told the Daily Mirror.

X Factor: Rhydian Roberts Doesn’t Like Leon’s Single

Rhydian Roberts has admitted that he doesn’t like the X Factor’s winners single, that scooped Christmas number one this week.

He told The Mirror: “I don’t particularly like [it]. But I didn’t like my version either. I’m glad I didn’t win and release the song as my rendition would have got slated.”

Rhydian has a point. It’s not a great song, particularly not for a man with not a large vocal range.

X Factor: Leon And Rhydian Meet Again!

X Factor finalists Rhydiaan Roberts and Leon Jackson are due to come face to face once more, this time at the Six Nations rugby.

The pair have been lined to sing the national anthem when their respective countries meet at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium in February.

Rhydian’s uncle Nigel said: “It’s one of his all-time goals and ideal as it’s Wales and Scotland.”

Leon Jackson Takes Christmas Number One

X Factor winner, Leon Jackson has scored his first Christmas number one single.

Jackson sold 276,000 copies of his debut single When You Believe, the highest weekly total for any track released in 2007 and five times as many as the duet by Melua and the late Cassidy which took the number two slot.

Previous X Factor winner Leona Lewis hit the number three spot in the weekly chart, with The Pogues and ‘Fairytale Of New York’ taking number four.

X Factor girl group Hope, have tried to use their feminine wiles on music moghul Simon Cowell, in the hope that he would give them a record deal.

It would seem however, that the girls have overestimated their powers of sexual persuasion, as Mr Cowell to date has refused to be drawn on the future of their career.

“I went to see Simon in his dressing room after the final show to say goodbye to him,” singer Raquelle Gracie told the Daily Star Sunday. “When I was in there I gave him a goodbye kiss and tried to persuade him into signing us up to his label.
