OK, Laura White was an X Factor favourite of ours last year, and we were totally devastated when she got booted off the show. You may remember that the scandal surrounding her departure, and how it got mentioned in parliament.

Now, Laura has released her first single You Should Have Known, and it’s a pretty good pop record. Really, go and look it up on YouTube.

However, over the last month or two, Unreality TV has been swamped with spam from so-called ‘fans’, urging people to go to YouTube, Laura’s official site or her Twitter account. We’ve seen this class of low-rent marketing tactic in the past, but real fans don’t go and leave spammy comments all over the place.

It’s not clear whether anyone from Laura’s management, record company or promotions people are involved in this, but the spam is coming from the same two or three people. I’m taking the step of mentioning it here, because you can’t force people to listen to a single if they don’t want to. And if Laura’s management can’t get the song proper UK airplay, what good will bombarding websites with spam do?

Now, we at Unreality TV genuinely believe that Laura White deserves to have a successful pop career. We just don’t agree with the tactics some people are using to promote her single – whether that’s her management or a bunch of fundamentalist fans.

JLS - X Factor 2008

JLS may have reached number one in the charts this week but the have boys revealed that their success hasn’t come without some big sacrifices.

“We have given it everything. We sacrificed girlfriends, we sacrificed university, we sacrificed our homes, we sacrificed our jobs. Luckily it has worked for us,” Marvin Humes told The Sun.

“We’re young guys. Obviously we have fun but it’s very difficult to hold and maintain a relationship. We’re never here. You can imagine the attention we get from girls.”

Band member JB added: “We’ve all broken up with long-term girlfriends in the last few months due to complications.”

Ortisé Williams ended his first ever relationship so he could focus on the band.

“I’d never had a girlfriend before and then I started seeing a girl and we broke up very quickly,” he said.

“I realised that the intensity and the pressure of being in the band was going to overtake everything.

“This is our commitment. This is why Marvin and Aston were in jobs they didn’t want to be in and me and JB were in uni just thinking about JLS. This is what it’s all for.”

X Factor band JLS have crashed the chart and landed at number one with their debut single ‘Beat Again’.

Our own writer, Gerard McGarry gushed about the song when it was first released saying:

The song, ‘Beat Again’ is urban and contemporary with hints of American hip-hop/R&B. Compare and contrast with our Eoghan’s recent flop! Listen up Louis Walsh!

If Walsh and Cowell had got their hands on JLS, they’d be wearing matching white suits and recycling Osmonds songs for the rest of a very short career.

Instead, they’re playing to their strengths with a frankly, flipping brilliant track (which you can sing T-Pain’s Low along to, by the way). I hope the boys do well with this track and that their fans from the show stay loyal and back the band with the intensity they showed when they voted in their thousands.

It seems like the listeners agree and it is so heartening to see a reality TV act stick to their guns, release music that they like and still succeed. Here’s hoping the boys can keep this up.

JLS singer Marvin Hume has admitted that he has a crush on Cheryl Cole, understandable really, most men do.

Hume first met Cheryl at last year’s X Factor auditions and she continued to support the band throughout the series.

Hume told Now magazine: “Cheryl is amazing, she’s a hot chick. She’s cool.”

“If I had a wife like Cheryl and everyone wanted her, I’d be happy,” he said. “You’ve got a hot chick, you’ve done well.”

X Factor band JLS have thanked their loyal fans for backing them and allowing them to live the dream.

The group are hoping to hit the number one spot with their debut single ‘Beat Again’ on Sunday, insisted that they will not get complacent.

“The boys and I have worked so hard to get here and it feels like it has all been worth it. This whole JLS journey has been the time of my life and I know this is only the beginning,” singer Marvin Humes told the Daily Record.

“Sometimes people can get complacent and forget why they are here in the first place but I want to express my gratitude to all of our supporters for making four guys’ dreams come true.”

Marvin also revealed that the boys constantly checked on the placement of their single when it was first released for download.

“The boys and I woke up in Glasgow knowing our song was available to buy and we kept our eyes on the iTunes chart all day. It climbed and climbed and climbed until it hit the top spot and stayed there,” he said.

“When we had our crazy gig at Hamilton Racecourse on Saturday night the feeling was electric, and we want that to stay forever.”

Diana Vickers - X Factor 2008

Former X Factor singer Diana Vickers has landed her first West End Role.

Diana will take the lead in West End show The Rise And Fall Of Little Voice.

The British Theatre Guide explains:

“The Rise And Fall Of Little Voice tells the story of a young girl, nicknamed Little Voice, who lives with her mother and hardly ever speaks, but has an amazing talent to imitate the singing voice of many of the great divas on her treasured records, left to her by her late father. However this is something she does privately for herself, and when one of her mother’s boyfriends sees the chance to make some money from her talent and forces her to sing in public, she is badly traumatised by the experience. Her only friend is a young lad, also very quiet, who came to fit the telephone at the start of the play and who also has a hidden secret – he is building a light show in the shed on his grandfather’s allotment.”

X Factor’s JLS were forced to leave a recent Take That gig early after being mobbed by fans.

“It was really funny because when Jason [Orange] began to sing his solo, someone spotted JLS and loads of people turned their backs on the stage to take pictures and chant their name instead,” a source told The Sun.

“They had to sprint through the corridors to get out and were escorted to their taxi to avoid all the attention.”

Not surprisingly, the group hope that their career emulates Take That’s in both popularity and longevity.

“They are working non-stop right now sharpening their act, training with dancing and singing, getting ready for their new single. But they wanted to take a night out to see Gary and the boys,” a source added.

“Watching Take That brought it all home for them. They really want to emulate that success and admitted they hope to fill Wembley one day too.”

Eoghan Quigg - X Factor 2008

X Factor singing sensation, Eoghan Quigg, is rumoured to have been dropped from his label, RMC, and bookies are already betting on who will snap up the young superstar.

Apparently the reason that RMC gave for releasing the young Dungiven man was because of poor sales of his debut album, self entitled ‘Eoghan Quigg’.

Paddy Power has also included a number of the giants in the music business as possible takers of the local X-Factor finalist.

Universal are 3/1, Warner Bros. Records are 4/1 and Syco Records/Sony BMG are 10/1, also in the running is ex Westlife band member Brian McFaddens Label BMF at 9/4, Daniel O’Donnell’s, Rosette Records further down the betting at 12/1 and at 50/1 Michael Jackson’s fathers new label is the outsider.

Patrick Tohill, spokesperson for Paddy Power’ said; ‘This news has come as quite a surprise to us all at Paddy Power because I’m sure that everyone of us bought his record over the Christmas/New Year period either as a secret addition to our own collection or as a present for a daughter or little sister.
I have no doubt that he’ll get snapped up nice and quickly by another label and get a new even better album out on the shelves in time for the Autumn.’

Paddy Power is also betting on Eoghan’s future success where he is 3/1 with the Bookie to have an Irish No.1 Albumn in 2010.
