Brian Dowling has reportedly auditioned to present The Xtra Factor this year.
The former Big Brother and Ultimate Big Brother winner is thought to have with producers and bosses of the show, as they try to find a replacement for previous host Konnie Huq.
An RTE insider told The Irish Herald newspaper that Brian is determined to land the role and beat off competition from the likes of Jeff Brazier, Georgie Thompson and Laura Hamilton.

Speaking to new! magazine, 51 year old Mary said, “In my 20s I had a relationship with a woman…
“And she came out of the woodwork to say, ‘I know Mary Byrne, she’s a lesbian’.
“Which was totally not true. It was just a one-off thing.
“I’d come out of a bad relationship with a man and someone was there.”
