OFCOM has upheld a complaint made against X Factor spin off show, The Xtra Factor.

The regulatory body found that the ITV2 show went overboard in their promotion of judge Tulisa Contostavlos’ fragrance and also the singles of host and former X Factor runner up Olly Murs.

OFCOM ruled that the Xtra Factor gave “undue prominence” to the ‘The Female Boss’ which Tulisa released just in time for Christmas and to ‘Dance With Me Tonight,’ Murs’ second single from album ‘In Case You Didn’t Know’ last year.

However, the body did not uphold complaints that Tulisa’s constant flashing of her arm tattoo on live shows, was promotion of her perfume of the same name.

Even though he’s going to miss her on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here Now, Joe Swash has admitted that he thinks Caroline Flack was the perfect choice for ITV2′s The Xtra Factor.

The former Eastenders actor, who fronted the I’m A Celeb spinoff alongside the brunette beauty said that Flack was linked to the show last year, even while Blue Peter presenter Konnie Huq was still fronting it in her own very wooden style.

Joe told BANG Showbiz: “Caroline’s name was being banded around for ‘The Xtra Factor’ even when Konnie was still doing it. She’s the only person who could hold it together and be funny and cool enough for that job. If I was a producer I would go hell for leather for Caroline.

“Konnie was doing it on her own, which is difficult. Some jobs just aren’t suitable for you. Konnie is good at other stuff and she’s an amazing presenter when she’s on the right show.

“They needed someone more edgy, Caroline is perfect for that show. She’s got a dirty sense of humour and I think ‘The Xtra Factor’ needs that.”

Joe however won’t be apart from Caroline for long, as they are both now presenting ITV2′s ‘Minute To Win It’and while he would have loved to continue their on screen partnership on The Xtra Factor, Swash did concede that Olly Murs is doing a good job in his place.

He added: “You know what, I would have loved to have gone on ‘The Xtra Factor’ with Caroline. But I suppose Olly’s got the history with ‘The X Factor’ and a massive fan base, there are girls chasing him around everywhere.

“Caroline and Olly get along like me and her do so you can see how it would work straight away.”

‘Minute To Win It’, presented by Cadbury Spots v Stripes, is on Tuesdays at 8pm on ITV2.

After last years disastrous series of Xtra Factor, presented by Konnie Huq, anyone who took over from her would have been disheartened before filming even started, but Olly Murs has promised that he will make it better.

Speaking to The Sun today, Olly said he was looking for inspiration from The X Factor host Dermot O’Leary and Konnie’s predecessor Holly Willoughby, who fronted the show for 3 years.

While Olly said Konnie was “great” as a presenter, he added: “Caroline and I can bring a more personal touch and get to know the contestants really well like Dermot does.”

He continued: “What makes Dermot so good on the main show is that he is so down to earth.

“Within a second you almost feel Dermot is one of your best mates. Hopefully that’s what Caroline and I can bring to it.

“We are also going to be like their mates. I hope my experience of the show will rub off on the contestants and we’ll get the best out of them.”

Let’s face it, much as we would have preferred Matt Edmondson and aren’t huge Olly fans….even he couldn’t do a worse job that Konnie!

Jeff Brazier on ITV's Dancing On Ice

Jeff Brazier has admitted that while he was disappointed not to have landed a job fronting this year’s Xtra Factor series, he does not hold a grudge against Olly Murs who landed the role.

The former Dancing On Ice contestant had made no secret of the fact that he was desperate to present the X Factor spinoff show on ITV2, however, last month it was announced that bosses had hired one of their own past competitors, Olly Murs, for the job alongside I’m A Celebrity Get me Out of Here Now presenter Caroline Flack.

Speaking to the Sun about the news, Jeff said:

“I knew a few weeks before the decision was made that I was out of the running.

“But I’m not disappointed. Caroline’s a wonderful presenter and Olly is my friend so I could never begrudge him.”

He is now hoping to land a job on Channel 5′s new Big brother series.

Olly Murs has always been vocal about his desire to settle down with the right girl and maybe he’s finally met his perfect woman.

The former X Factor runner up will be co-hosting this year’s Xtra Factor series along with Caroline Flack and she told fans that they may be able to look forward to a little bit of romance on the ITV2 spinoff show.

The 31-year-old TV presenter told New! Magazine:

“There’s a lot of flirting going on, so who knows what could happen.

“He’s a diamond – I love him.”

She added: “All the contestants love him because he’s been through it. They’re so focused on him that I sometimes have to say, ‘hello, I’m here, too’!”

Caroline also gave her impressions of the two new female judges, Tulisa Contostavlos and Kelly Rowland. She added:

“Tulisa is nothing like Cheryl, but she is the judge who has that sensitive approach.”

“Kelly Rowland is the one to watch. She’s looking for something very particular and everyone’s desperate to impress her.”

Olly Murs and Caroline Flack have reportedly been confirmed as the new presenters of ITV2′s Xtra Factor.

Just one day after ITV confirmed the judging panel of their new X Factor series, they are said to have appointed two hosts for it’s spinoff show for the first time.

News Of The World reporter Dan Wootton revealed the news on Twitter, writing:

Breaking: Caroline Flack and Olly Murs to be named as new Xtra Factor presenters tomorrow. Congrats @carolineflack1 & @ollyofficial

Olly of course shot to fame on the 2009 series of The X Factor, when he finished in second place behind Joe McElderry. This will be his first major TV presenting role.

Caroline Flack will be best known to ITV2 viewers as the co-host of I’m A Celebrity spin off show, I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here Now.

Matt Edmondson has reportedly been chosen as the new presenter of The Xtra Factor.

Former Blue Peter presenter Konnie Huq will thankfully not be back on the X Factor spin off show, meaning that in 2011 we will be spared her wooden presenting style and uncomfortable questioning technique. However The Sun claims that we will be entertained by the always funny Matt, who impressed bosses with his online fan segment – The F Factor – during last year’s series.

It is thought that Simon Cowell is planning to hire two presenters for the show this year and so Matt will be joined by a female co-host. Believed to be front runners for the job are Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh and The Saturdays Singer Frankie Sanford.

We can’t help wishing that Holly Willoughby would just come back!

Stacey Solomon is reportedly being considered as the new host of The Xtra Factor.

The mum of one shot to fame on the 2009 series of The X Factor, when she finished in third place behind Joe McElderry and Olly Murs.

More recently she won ITV’s I’m A Celebrity and landed her first presenting job on their Saturday night entertainment programme, Sing If You Can.

Insiders say the singer met with Xtra Factor bosses yesterday, to discuss the possibility of her taking over on the spinoff show from former Blue Peter star Konnie Huq.

Other names in the frame are Girls Aloud’s Kimberley Walsh, TV presenter Jeff Brazier and The Saturday’s singer Frankie Sanford.

We don’t think Stacey could handle the pressure ourselves and out of the bunch above, think Kimberley would be the wisest choice!

Bang Showbiz reports that Holly had to be replaced “at the last minute” by Jenni Falconer – who’s also expecting a baby – as she went into labour early.

Her friend and show co-host Phillip Schofield has confirmed via Twitter that Holly is in labour, and that she’s “close to giving birth”.

Phillip tweeted, “Latest news is that @hollywills is in labour and at my last text from hubby Dan, fancied a bit of @ginofantastico ‘s pizza he made today (sic)”

Earlier in the day, Holly herself sent a text to Phillip to say she was eating breakfast and preparing for the birth of her baby girl who will be sister to little Harry who’s just 23 months old.

She wrote, “I’m currently bouncing on a birthing ball eating breakfast. Sadly not an avocado in sight. Miss you.”

Earlier in her pregnancy, Holly had to visit her local hospital because she thought she was anaemic.

At the time, Holly wrote, “I went to the hospital to have some checks done and I’d managed to make myself quite anaemic and I think the headaches were because of that.”

Laura Hamilton has admitted that she would love to win the Xtra Factor presenting job this year.

Konnie Huq recently confirmed that she will not be back on the ITV2 X Factor spin off show and it was reported that Laura had left her job on children’s TV channel Nickelodeon to front the series.

Speaking to The Mirror about her chances of landing the gig, Hamilton said:

“Of course ‘Xtra Factor’ appeals. I’ve got a couple of work projects and opportunities that are potentially going to happen and a few decisions to make after that, but to present something like ‘Xtra Factor’ would be amazing.”

In the meantime, the 28-year-old star will be competing against Chloe Madeley and Sam Attwater on this Sunday’s Dancing On Ice final and has admitted that she is nervous because she doesn’t think the public know her well.

She explained: “I am scared! I just hope nothing bad happens before then during training. But no matter what happens, I wouldn’t have changed these last few months for anything. Of course I was worried the fact not many people knew me could go against me.

“I always knew from week one when it was completely down to the public vote that we’d struggle to make it through. You don’t know how the public have taken to you – that’s why we didn’t expect to get this far.”
