Tonight saw the final Apprentice of the year and boy was it a good one!

Kate Walsh and Yasmina Siadatan went head to head in a confectionery based task, where each woman was responsible for creating and launching their own range of chocolates.

Kate’s team came up with ‘Choc Amour’, a product which was designed for sharing between couples, whilst Yamsina’s team produced ‘Cocoa Electric’ a shocking’ box of chocolates, which were almost inedible.

Taste obviously wasn’t an issue and Alan Sugar obviously isn’t a chocolate fan, because after admitting that Yasmina’s chocolates were vile, they were also cheap to produce and he moved on to hire her. I feel sorry for poor Mrs Sugar, I bet Valentines Day is a disappointment in their house.

So Yasmina landed a six figure job and Kate is left high and dry but somehow I don’t think she’ll be destitute. Surely her and Phillip are good for at least one or two big magazine spreads?

Apprentice finalist Yasmina Siadatan has accused producers of editing her unfairly in the shows most recent episode.

Last week’s episode saw Yasmina struggle to answer questions put to her by the formidable Claude Litner. As he grilled her on her company accounts she squirmed and was obviously out of her depth. yet Yasmina was shown to emerge from the interview and describe it as “very good” and “actually enjoyable” in a conversation with her fellow candidates.

Yasmina has now claimed that the comments were made after another of the four interviews.

Siadatan told BBC News: “They cut the wrong exit which was really, really unfair. I’ve had an apology so that’s fine.”

She continued: “The whole thing went tits up and I made a complete fool out of myself. I walked out and I said: ‘Guys that was just terrible – that was a really, really awful interview’.”

She added: “I was slightly edited in the wrong way and they know about that and it’s fine. There’s no complaints and no hard feelings. It’s a business programme, it’s also a television programme. We’re not stupid. We’re aware of that.”

OMG!!! Sir Alan Sugar appeared on The One Show tonight saying that this years bunch of Apprentice candidates are his best yet, but to me they look like a bunch of bumbling idiots.

Their first task consisted of Sir Alan providing them with a van and some cleaning materials (all of which they paid for out of their budget). They then had to clean some stuff and make as much money as they could in just one day.

The girls in particular astounded me by trying to charge £300 to clean three cars! When the customer pointed out that his current cleaner does the job for £60, Mona Lewis told him he was wrong and basically implied that he was a liar. They landed the contract in the end but after dropping their price dramatically they then had to summon their customer to help them work the pressure washer.

The boys, to their credit, landed a contract to clean 30 minicabs, but would only be paid for the ones which passed the customers inspection. There seemed to be way too many of them trying to clean at the same time, they took one and a half hours to clean their first car and even then they were forgetting to clean roofs, backs of seats and other pretty obvious spots.

In the end Ignite (the girls team) took £357, they spent £196.45 and so made a profit of £160.55. Empire (the boys team) took £347, spent £107.39 and so made a profit of just over £239. So the boys won, but really not through any great margin and not because of any great planning or talent. I can only hope that this bunch get better with practice!

Highly ambitious restaurant owner and marathon runner Yasmina was born in Hull and spent time living in Los Angeles and Iran before settling in London. Yasmina, who first experienced the world of business in her dad’s restaurant, describes herself as dominating yet adaptable and believes that business is about spotting a gap in the market and filling it better than anyone else can. She admires Sir Richard Branson’s attitude to personal service and would love to have been the brains behind Microsoft, where the right idea at the right time led to riches.
