Lord Alan Sugar confirms that BBC want at least two more series of The Apprentice – apply for 2013 series here!
The Apprentice drew to a close last night, as professional wrestler Ricky Martin took the £250,00 investment fund and won over Tom gGearing and Jade Nash in the final episode of the series….but fear not Sugar fans as the man himself has confirmed that he will be back.
Some critics had blasted the most recent run as boring and old and insiders had suggested that the BBC was considering axing the show from next year’s schedules.
However, Lord Alan Sugar took to Twitter last night to reveal that in fact, channel bosses want at least two more series of the show from him and the team.
In an online spat with his long time enemy Piers Morgan, Sugar responded to a jibe made by the CNN host, tweeting:
‘Piers as an expert on TV.Can you kindly advise why the BBC want me to do 2 more series of the Apprentice.’
He was also happy with the final’s performance in terms of ratings and tweeted his followers this morning, writing:
‘Apprentice won the viewing ratings last night beating Coronation Street and Vera we held through main programme 6.9m’
He then revealed that applications are already open for next year’s series writing:
‘I’m already looking ahead to next year’s Apprentice to invest £250k in a 50/50 business partner.’
