Young Apprentice Week Four Review: 17 Going on 67 and why James McCullagh shines!

There’s no doubting that the stand-out character of this year’s Young Apprentice has been young Irishman James from his unkempt hair to his straight-talking ways he has been a constant source of sardonic soundbites. However James has often sunk into the background occasionally shouting the odds if he’s bought into the background or trying to create new ideas during pitches, rainforest chic anyone? However this week there was nowhere to hide after James put himself forward to be the project manager of Kinetic taking on Atomic this week led by Haya. James was his depressive best right from the start as the teams were asked to go the Natural History he told his fellow teammates that he hated both nature and history but if it made him money he would learn to like it. Thankfully this was another case of an Apprentice tenuous links as all the fossils and dinosaurs were a satirical hint that the groups this week were marketing products to the over-50s. James’ team-mate Gbemi thought this task would be a walk in the park thinking that old people would want to splash the cash or otherwise they’ll be saving to the grave from this I’m guessing that she’s never stood behind a pensioner at a supermarket checkout as they sort through various coupons to get money off the majority of the products they’ve bought.

Young Apprentice 2011 Results: Lewis Roman is fired!

It’s back to the boardroom after a grueling day of sales and time to hear their fate following this week’s task.

With support for both Project Managers, it’s straight down to the numbers to separate the two teams:

Atomic took £347.42 on the pie makers and £500 on the bird boxes making a total of £847.42

The Young Apprentice: Haya Al Dlame and Harry Maxwell clash, Lewis Roman and Gbemi Okunlola diss old people!

It’s week four and the candidates are called to the Natural History Museum, home to fossils and a fitting setting for this week’s task; selling to the over 50’s.

Each team will be presented with eight new products and must select two suppliers which they will then represent at a Fifty Plus sales exhibition. The teams are shuffled and despite fierce opposition from both Harrys on their respective teams, Haya is eventually voted PM on Atomic with James taking the lead on Kinetic – but will they make it back to the boardroom unwrinkled?

Young Apprentice Week Three Review: In the Land of the West End Crimper

All fans of The Apprentice know that Nick Hewer can often steal the show with only a couple of lines and a few withering looks. This time after two boys had a pretty harsh run in with stylist Daniel Galvin he quipped, ‘here in the land of the West End Crimper style and understanding of what women’s hairdressers want is key.’ The two boys in question – Harry H and James, had been pitching a rainforest chic display for the front of Galvin’s salon, as this week’s task involved flowering arranging, however the stylists weren’t convinced and as Hewer remarked they should’ve bought a girl with them. Week three of Young Apprentice saw the boys and girls mixed together for the first time and Atomic project manager Lizzie decided to send the two boys out rather than have them learn flowering arranging. While James, who admitted to hating flowers as well as nature and animals, would’ve kicked up a fuss had he been made to stay behind I’m sure dependable and mature Harry H would’ve stayed behind if Haya was picked to pitch as in my opinion she won the task for the girls last week. Over on Kinetic smiley Hannah had the unenviable task of trying to control Harry M and Lewis, who still were at war after last week, so sent the latter off to pitch with Zara while Harry stayed behind with her and Gbemi to learn how to arrange and sell the flowers.

Young Apprentice 2011 Live Blog: Week 3, The Floristry Business

Young Apprentice 2011 lineup

Young Apprentice: Not enough people for a full Halifax advert

We’re back, baby! After missing last week’s Young Apprentice (shame on us!), we’re back and live blogging tonight’s episode with a vengeance! And, to make matters even more crazy, we’ll be trying to tweet things as well! This can only end badly!

Tonight’s installment of junior-sized entrepreneurial hijinx involves the two teams starting rival floristry businesses. For once, we’re grateful for the ridiculously extended recap, though we’re guessing if you watched the show last week, this will seem a bit excessive. Interestingly enough, some spud-faced chap got fired. I honestly don’t even remember him from the first episode. Was he in The Risk?

On tonight’s Young Apprentice the contestants attempt a flowery task! (PICTURES)

TOP MOMENTS OF EPISODE THREE:
· THE TWO BUDDING TEAM LEADERS REVEAL DIFFERENT MANAGEMENT STYLES
· THERE’S BUST UPS AND BLUSHES OVER BLOOMS AS THE TEAMS PITCH
· PETAL PRICES PROVE A THORNY SUBJECT

It’s week three of the Young Apprentice and an early start for the 10 budding candidates, who are woken up with a bouquet of flowers delivered to the door along with a tablet. The tablet contains a video message from Lord Sugar, who is quick to inform the candidates that the flowers are not a sign that he is “going soft”. Lord Sugar instead explains that “the floristry business is worth over 1.5 billion pounds a year and I want you to grab a share of that market”.

Lord Sugar has organised for an expert to teach the two teams how to make flower arrangements, which they will then need to create themselves before selling their creations to the public, as well as pitching for contracts with three corporate clients with specific requirements. The task is all about profit, the team that comes in with the highest amount of profit is going to win and in the losing team, one candidate will be fired.

Baby Love: Young Apprentice Week Two Review

You would think that when sexual and health education is taught at secondary schools these days that children get at least a little understanding of how to care for a baby. But this doesn’t seem to be the case when sixteen year old Hannah, on hearing that babies go through ten nappies a day, queries whether you have to change the baby every time or if you could leave it? But then again most of the kids on the Young Apprentice went to private school where lessons about how to care for a child were replaced by double Latin. Baby knowledge was essential in Week Two’s task as both teams had to create and design a new product in the baby market. After being egged on by Harry M, Lewis was intrigued enough by the creativity to take control of the team and James had a smirk on his face as if to say, I hope you fail. On the girls team Gbemi bigged herself to take on the Manager role giving her clothing range and caring for her younger siblings as reasons she could fill this position but Lizzie also wanted the role as she designs guitar straps. From this scene it seemed that Gbemi had a hold over the girls as they were all enchanted enough by her to unanimously vote her their leader. However it was Lizzie who gave the team their idea, a scarf-like implement for the child-carer to wear so they could comfortably cradle the baby.
