Ben Fowler was seen being fired on tonight’s Young Apprentice episode, after the boys team lost on the baby themed task set by Lord Alan Sugar.
We caught up with the 16 year old horticulturalist to chat about the experience and here’s what he had to say about his time on the BBC show….

After a second week vying for a place as Lord Sugar’s young apprentice, the candidates return to the boardroom to hear how they fared on the mother and baby task.
Lord Sugar immediately points out the flawed model casting on the girls’ team and Haya responds: “Personally I told Zara that the colour of the baby was going to be a big issue but she was very determined.” Over on the boys’ team, there is resounding frustration at Lewis’ project management but before fingers can be pointed, it’s down to the all important numbers:

TOP MOMENTS OF EPISODE TWO:
· BOYS ARE RATTLED AS THEY STRUGGLE TO AGREE ON A BABY PRODUCT
· GIRLS THROW THEIR TOYS OUT OF THE PRAM AS ZARA MAKES QUESTIONABLE MODEL CHOICE
· BOTH PMs BOTTLE IT AFTER SHAKY PRODUCT PITCHES
It’s week two in TV’s toughest teen master-class and this week the 11 remaining candidates must overcome any teething problems and create, design and brand an innovative new baby product before pitching it to three retailers in the childcare market.
Lord Sugar keeps the teams as Girls vs Boys but with everything to play for, will there be tears and tantrums in the boardroom?

I have to admit that I never was that good at maths when I was 16; in fact I even had to retake my maths GCSE just to achieve a C Grade. But then again working out percentages and how they will relate to selling a certain product will ever come into my life also I’m not currently studying for A-Levels in maths, further maths or Economics unlike Hannah, Hayley or Lizzie three of the girls competing on this year’s Young Apprentice. While trying to work out how many litres of ice cream they would need to produce in order to make a profit they were struggling immensely carrying point threes and basically over-complicating things. To be fair to the trio they did have Nick Hewer breathing down their necks looking like a disappointed maths teacher who went as far to tell the camera that they couldn’t add, subtract, multiply or divide. Possibly Hewer was a bit annoyed that he had to give up more of his time to participate in a second series of The Apprentice in a time in which he should be on a break.

MAHAMED SKATES ON THIN ICE IN FROZEN TREATS TASK
After a grueling first task, it’s back to the boardroom with a baptism of fire in store for the young candidates. Cracks immediately appear on the boys’ team as Mahamed steps forward in an attempt to take credit for creating the product’s theme but a furious James retorts: “That is completely incorrect!”
Over on the girls’ team a similar scene emerges as they fail to see eye to eye but Nick Hewer steps in and concludes: “It was just embarrassingly out of control!”

Young Apprentice: Not enough people for a full Halifax advert
Alan Sugar’s back with another Junior Apprentice. Sorry, what’s that, they’ve renamed it to Young Apprentice? Right, just got the memo. Thanks Sir Alan.
Welcome to the first episode liveblog for the new series of Young Apprentice. We’ll be watching a bunch of upstart kids dressed in borrowed suits try to navigate the stormy waters of big business.
Tonight’s first episode is all about flogging ice-cream. Given the recent weather, I think we can assume that this episode wasn’t filmed in the last week or two! We’re five minutes in and the teenaged candidates aren’t remotely as annoying as their fully grown counterparts on the main Apprentice show.

When Junior Apprentice aired last year we thought it was a kind of a cop out and without the bitchiness of the candidates and the brutal honesty of (now Lord) Alan Sugar, it would be a bit of a washout.
But we hold our hands up and admit…we were wrong. What amazed us most was the fact that some (not all but definitely some) of the young hopefuls had better business heads and certainly more drive and dedication than their adult counterparts.
