The Apprentice 2013 Results: Who was fired? Jaz Ampaw-Farr, Sophie Lau or Uzma Yakoob?
On tonight’s first episode of The Apprentice, after a super-sized selling task, which involved selling a container load of goods – from novelty items to household commodities, the teams meet Lord Sugar back in the boardroom to hear the final results on the first task.
Nick Hewer and Karren Brady reveal the numbers for the team they have observed:
On Evolve, Project Manager Jaz’s sub-team made total sales of £270, and Leah’s sub-team made total sales of £839.30, resulting in total team sales of £1109.30.
On Endeavour, Project Manager Jason’s sub-team made total sales of £324.50, and Neil’s sub-team made total sales of £843.40, resulting in total team sales of £1167.90
As a reward for their win, team Endeavour is sent back to the candidates’ luxury house in Holborn where a top chef from Fortnum and Mason treats them to a gourmet meal.
In the boardroom, Project Manager Jaz decides to bring Sophie and Uzma back with her to face the first firing.
After a heated discussion, Lord Sugar delivers his final verdict:
“Jaz, very, very brave move to jump in and be the Project Manager, and I do give you credit for that. Was it clever? I don’t think so. Certainly wasn’t clever the speed at which you did it. Uzma, I was confused why Jaz brought you in here. I’ve owned businesses, and I’ve had sales teams where a logistics person is the heart of the company. I understand what that means, and on that basis, you’re not in my consideration at the moment. Sophie, you didn’t sell anything. Jaz, was adamant that you were coming back in here, and that tells me that she felt you didn’t pull your weight on this task. I have to give that deep consideration. I think that, Jaz, there was terrible mayhem going on, bad organisation, fatal mistakes made, and I do believe that your biggest mistake was jumping in too quickly. On that basis Jaz, you’re fired.”
As Jaz leaves in a black cab, she reflects on her time in the process:
“If I had my time again, I’d love to say I wouldn’t volunteer, but I know I would. I’m gutted to be fired before I’ve a chance to show how amazing I am, and I really wanted to go right through to the end of the process because my business plan is phenomenal.”
15 candidates remain – who will be the next to hear the infamous words ‘You’re Fired’?
