The Apprentice FINAL: Yasmina Siadatan Is Hired!

Tonight saw the final Apprentice of the year and boy was it a good one!

Kate Walsh and Yasmina Siadatan went head to head in a confectionery based task, where each woman was responsible for creating and launching their own range of chocolates.

Kate’s team came up with ‘Choc Amour’, a product which was designed for sharing between couples, whilst Yamsina’s team produced ‘Cocoa Electric’ a shocking’ box of chocolates, which were almost inedible.

Taste obviously wasn’t an issue and Alan Sugar obviously isn’t a chocolate fan, because after admitting that Yasmina’s chocolates were vile, they were also cheap to produce and he moved on to hire her. I feel sorry for poor Mrs Sugar, I bet Valentines Day is a disappointment in their house.

So Yasmina landed a six figure job and Kate is left high and dry but somehow I don’t think she’ll be destitute. Surely her and Phillip are good for at least one or two big magazine spreads?

    08/06/09 – The final – Yasmina you’re hired!

Which meant Kate, still smiling, you’re fired! A shame really, I thought that Kate had the edge in the final and delivered better results all round. Yes the Choc d’Amour were a bit pricey but that could have been adjusted in time and it was a neat idea (loved the bondage style advert).

But congratulations to Yasmina, Sir Alan’s need to follow his instinct led him to pick her as his apprentice for 2009. But, in his words, the class of 2009 was the best he has had and he could have easily picked both girls as winners.

And from a project management aspect what had they learnt? Well when they all stopped competing they were so much easier to manage – I’m sure Yasmina and Kate would agree to that – no project manager can be successful if they have a team of people fighting to take control all the time. And the team members learnt when to contribute and when to accept decisions and get on with it, this left the PM’s to focus on the job in hand.

And so as the last shot of the Gherkin faded out (53 in total in the series by my count) it all came to an end (oh yes, was it me or was Noorul completely invisible in the final?) and we now have to wait a whole year until it all starts again. My life has a void that can’t be filled with Big Brother, X-Factor or I’m a Celebrity…

And the sadness is compounded by the news that Margaret will not be with us in 2010, gawd bless you ma’am, you will be missed.

I just may have to buy series 1-5 and just relive the magic all over again.

Being an American who loves the Apprentice UK, I’m not happy at all about Yasmina winning. This and Margaret leaving makes this a very sad day in Apprentice UK history. Sir Alan had questions about Yasmina’s motive and for both their sakes she’d better have the right answers. As for Kate, I wish she would’ve won but this is a lesson to us all…. dressing smart and looking the part doesn’t always get the job.

The final was the Kate Walsh show. Yasmina – the WINNER – hardly got a look in. Of course it wouldn’t be anything as SHALLOW as being about Kate’s good looks would it?

Unfair coverage in my opinion but good on Yasmina – I think ‘SrAlan’ made the right decision.
