It’s been reported today that former TOWIE star Maria Fowler is lucky to be alive after she lost control of her car, crashing it into other vehicles, after a wasp flew into her car.

The Mail Online reports that Maria was on her way to meet friends last night when she had the car crash, in which she trapped and bruised her leg in the door of her sports car.

She told the Mail, “It sounds stupid but I’m absolutely terrified of wasps and so when it came near me I panicked.

“I have a serious phobia of them and I’ve even considered having hypnotherapy for my extreme fear because I’m also allergic to them.

“I seriously can’t even watch wasps on television. I get so scared I have panic attacks if they come near me…”

Maria posted a picture of the bruising to her leg on Twitter just moments after the accident happened, adding that she was thankful that her Mercedes SLK AMG wasn’t totally trashed.

With the picture, she wrote, “Had a car crash today had my leg trapped an nearly broke it.

“Was so bad thank god my car will be fixed.”

However, she evidently didn’t let the accident ruin her night as just hours later, she was spotted partying with friends in Derby.

One of her friends tweeted, “@MariaFowler has a poorly leg!!!! #mandown >>> car crash waaaaa.”

Another wrote, “Tres excited to go out for @MariaFowler birthday tonight!! I’m gonna get her sooo drunk!! #birthdayfun.”
