TOWIE: Mario Falcone & Lucy Mecklenburgh are no longer engaged & Joey Essex got Arg a blind date!

It was a dramatic evening last night on The Only Way Is Essex!

There has been plenty of angst and drama between lovebirds Mario Falcone and Lucy Mecklenburgh in recent weeks and the most recent instalment of the ITV2 show spent most of it’s time focussing on whether they would stick together, or break up after their recent string of rows.

The pair got engaged during a TOWIE trip to Marbella in the summer, they haven’t even started planning their wedding yet and it seems like they wont be any time soon as Lucy’s trust issues got the better of her in the end.

Last week the pair were at loggerheads, over Mario’s flirtations with one of Mick Norcross’ gorgeous ‘Sugar Hut Honeys’ and on Wednesday’s episode, the brunette beauty struggled to get her head round where the relationship was going.

She wept as she confided in best friend Lydia Bright that while she believed her fiance hadn’t physically cheated on her, she was devastated because he breached her trust and couldn’t see it. However, Lucy was in a bit of a quandary as her dad had moved away from the area and if she moved out of her and Mario’s flat, she had nowhere to live.

Lydia stepped in and called Mario, explaining how her pal was feeling but Falcone became increasingly irate, throwing up Lucy’s previous fling with Mark Wright and insisting that he was being nothing more than friendly with Mick’s girl.

He said:

‘There’s a lot of things that have happened in the past and if I hadn’t forgiven her, we wouldn’t still be together.

‘They were totally different messages to the ones I was sending seven months ago. This time, I was having banter with girls about Arsenal and Tottenham. If it was some fat munter, she wouldn’t care.’

In the end the pair did meet and both got upset as they talked through their issues.

Mario claimed that his friends are backing him and think his fiance was overreacting, he also objected to her involving Lydia in their row.

Lucy hit back, revealing that she wanted him to cut off all contact with Mick, as she thinks he is a bad influence on Mario.

Falcone tried to clear the air by cooking a dinner for Lucy in the nude, but in the end it had all gone too far and the pair agreed to call their engagement off and go back to being simply boyfriend and girlfriend.

It was Mario’s idea unsurprisingly and he said:

He said: ‘We were happy before we were engaged. That ring, to me, is a symbol of the bad memories and everything that’s happened over the past few months.’

Meanwhile, not everyone was in the doldrums in Essex last night, as Arg had a new potential love interest on the scene.

Joey Essex was a good friend and set his pal up on a blind date with his beautiful acquaintance Jasmine at a local pub.

It seemed to be going ok and the banter was flowing but in the end it became clear that the chemistry and spark was missing and the two agreed to be friends. Will Arg ever find love after Lydia?

Elsewhere Sam Faiers and Joey Essex committed to one another and during a trip to the fish market that Joey used to work in, the pair got all lovey dovey and promised to spend the rest of their lives together…..awww.

Also, Ricky Rayment surprised Jess Wright by getting down on one knee – however he wasn’t proposing marriage, just presenting her with a key to his flat and asking her to move in. Of course she gratefully accepted!
