Hell really does have no fury like a woman scorned, especially when that scorned woman can pen a tell-all book by way of venting her anger at a former lover…
Which is exactly what The Only Way Is Essex star Lauren Goodger has done now that her former co-star and lover Mark Wright is dating Coronation Street’s Michelle Keegan.
The Daily Mirror reports that in her book, Lauren has branded Mark a “serial love cheat” and claimed he’s “controlling” adding that she made herself “a doormat” on whom Mark wiped his feet for over a decade.
Lauren wrote, “I made myself a doormat and he wiped his feet on me every single day.”
The paper adds, “Lauren, 26, tells how Mark cheated while they were engaged and paid for her to have an abortion after blubbing: ‘I can’t have a baby with you right now.’
“She also reveals in an explosive new book how the Take Me Out: The Gossip host made jibes about her weight, banned her from clubbing with him and insisted on ordering for her in restaurants.”
And of Mark’s alleged cheating, Lauren goes on to say, “I genuinely thought if I let him get it all out of his system, then when we got married and had children, he would be faithful and a great father.
“How stupid is that? What a mug!”
She added, “Mark questioned my every move. The more time went on, the more I began to feel as though I should be grateful for being with him, and that’s when I started to get insecure too.
“I don’t think anyone thinks of Mark as the jealous or insecure person in our relationship… it’s me who has been labelled as the obsessive one.
“It’s simply not like that.
“He seemed to hate me going out with him. I know that sounds weird, but it became normal to me.
“He made me feel like it was OK for couples not to go out together. Little by little I was giving him more and more control over my life.
“Mark would comment on the way I looked as well as where I went. He didn’t like me wearing low-cut tops or short skirts.
“Once he saw a skirt I’d bought and refused to let me wear it.
“I often suspected Mark would have liked me to have been slimmer.
“One day he said he thought we might be a more famous couple if we were both slim.”
She continued, “I went from being quite a strong-minded person to being a pushover, agreeing to everything Mark said and wanted me to do.
On the subject of her pregnancy, Lauren said, “I went out to buy a test while Mark waited at my mum’s house.
“We sat in the bathroom as two faint blue lines appeared. I was like, s***, this can’t be happening.
“In a weird way I felt excited knowing I could be carrying Mark’s baby even though I knew we weren’t financially stable.
“Mark was crying his eyes out. He was devastated. He was saying to me, ‘I can’t wait to have a baby with you in the future, but not right now. It’s not the right time for us’.
“My mum told me it had to be my decision and if I wanted to keep the baby, then that’s what I should do and she would support me, but I was like, ‘No, me and Mark aren’t ready.’
“But I think deep down, if Mark had said, ‘Keep it,’ I would have. I wanted that baby.”
As fans will know, Lauren later had a termination, and of that, she said, “I can remember that car journey like it was yesterday.
“The closer we got, the worse I felt about what I was about to do.
“Mark and I didn’t speak that much on the journey. I think we both felt totally sh*t about what was happening.”
Finally, of claims that she cheated on Mark, Lauren said, “I was never unfaithful to Mark, but because he believed some boy’s word over mine, he ended it all.”
You can of course read more in Lauren’s book, Secrets of an Essex Girl, which is published by Hodder & Stoughton on February 14.
