Amy Winehouse’s pal Tyler James auditions for Jessie J and Will.i.am on The Voice UK
Tyler James has reportedly tried out for The Voice UK, during their first auditions in London last week.
Jessie J, Will.i.am, Danny O’Donaghue and Tom Jones attended tryouts in the BBC Television Centre last Thursday and isniders say that James was one of the talented wannabes to sing for them.
Tyler has had a taste of fame before and in 2003 landed a record deal with ‘Island’ records, after they heard a demo tape featuring his future debut single, “Why Do I Do”. The track was released in 2004 and entered the UK Singles Chart at number 25. His follow up single “Foolish” reached number 16 on the UK chart.
However he was probably best known for his friendship with the late singer Amy Winehouse and was often pictured socialising with the ‘Rehab’ hitmaker in the Camden area of London.
Because he does not now have a record or management deal, rules state that Tyler is eligible to enter The Voice and if he makes the live shows, he will be able to choose which of the four mega stars he would like to mentor him for the series.
Watch a video of Tyler’s ‘Why Do I’ below and tell us, do you think he’s good enough?

He’s not the only ‘name’ who’s auditioned. A well known west end performer auditioned and went unrecognised – and didn’t get through!
Hi Tom,Great aritcle! Yes, there have been a significant number of changes in the voice over industry over the past five years. You’re absolutely right: if you aren’t out there auditioning, you won’t be heard and subsequently, not hired for those jobs. Thanks for touching on this topic
Best wishes,Stephanie
