Last year we saw Five Star singers and West End stars and it seems 2013 will feature even more failed singing celebrities trying out For The Voice.
Jessie J, Tom Jones, Will.i.am and Danny O’Donoghue have all reunited this week for the newest round of auditions for the BBC show and it’s bee reported that there was more than one familiar face on stage.
Insiders have reported that former Hear’say star Danny Foster tried out for the new series, in the hope that he could restart his performing career.
The 33 year old of course first shot to fame on the first series of TV talent-show Popstars and went on on to become a founder member of the pop group Hear’say alone with Myleene Klass, Suzanne Shaw, Kym Marsh and that other boy …. Noel something or other.
The group scored two number one singles with Pure And Simple and The Way To Your Love before they split just eighteen months after the ITV show ended.
Since then Mylenne has went on to become a successful TV presenter and model, Suzanne appeared in Emmerdale and in various stage productions, Kym has enjoyed a long stint in Coronation Street and Noel has seen out his time on the West End.
Danny’s biggest claim to fame was an appearance on Channel 4’s ‘The Games’ in 2005 and on Five’s Trust Me – I’m A Beauty Therapist the next year.
He was hoping to turn things around with an audition on The Voice but unfortunately it didn’t work out for him as none of the judges turned their seat to pick him for their team.
The news was slightly better for Cleopatra singer Cleo Higgins.
The singer, who was once engaged to X Factor star Marlon McKenzie, enjoyed chart hits with songs such as Comin’ Atcha and I Want You Back in the late 1990s, and more recently has toured with classical singer Russell Watson.
Her tryout must have bee something pretty spectacular as it’s been reported by The Daily Star that Jessie J and Will.i.am spent half an hour fighting with each other, vying to land her for their respective teams.
She chose to join team Will.i.am in the end.
A source said: “It just goes to show that being a former chart star means nothing at those auditions. Danny’s been No 1 and he wasn’t wanted.”
Listen to Danny and Cleo singing and tell us, which do you prefer and do you think the judges were fair with Foster?
