Nick Dixon may have failed to win himself a place in The Voice battle rounds for a second year running, but at least he impressed Kylie Minogue with his sweet nature right?
The 17 year old singer belted out Home Again by Elton John for the coaches but before taking to the stage told the team that being rejected last year had a real affect on him.
“Last series I was so nervous I could feel my heart pounding in my chest. When I finished my song and no one turned around my heart hit rock bottom. It took me a few seconds to realise ‘Oh I’m not through.'”
“If I could go back in time and give my younger self advice, I’d say just relax.”
“Since I auditioned last year I have worked so hard, I wanted to show the people what I have learned.”
“It’s more than a dream. It’s my life, it’s all that I want.”
Sadly none of the coaches turned for Nick and Tom Jones mused:
“Maybe the song was wrong, maybe. Maybe make a better choice of song to show you off more. Keep going, don’t give up.”
Ricky Wilson added:
“Keep going and it will happen one day.”
“I know you saw us last year and the outcome wasn’t what you wanted. This happened to me too. I was told ‘it’s just not tangible.’ I didn’t even know what that meant at the time. It meant something with a handle, something to hold. So since then I have been writing hooks like crazy!”
Nick won the panel over with his sweetness though and as he left the stage to hand them some business cards, Kylie admitted:
“I fell a little bit in love with him.”
