Jamie Lovatt, a 23 year old rocker from Jersey, wowed Ricky Wilson with his version of ‘Everybody’s Free’ on tonight’s episode of The Voice.
Before singing he told the team:
“I am from Jersey, it is a beautiful little island but there’s not much to do. The first time I sang I must have been about four and was this little blonde boy, dancing and singing away.”
“I moved to London when I was 18 to pursue a career in music.”
“The dream is to be successful in what I can do. To me right now that is all that matters.”
Ricky has enjoyed some measure of success previously and told the coaches that he previously won a four album record deal with his band Romance. However his bassist got ill, the drummer developed a condition which saw the muscles in his back turning to cartilage, the guitarist lost heart and in the end the label dropped them before their debut album was released.
Ricky Wilson and Kylie Minogue both turned for Jamie and Kylie said:
“I liked the emotion in your voice, I don’t know if you always sing like that but you have the ability to sing like that which is very moving. I didn’t know I was going to turn and see a rock God.”
“I really loved it, I kind of feel like I know what you have been through. I am in a band, we lost a record deal, I didn’t stop. I was 26 when The Kaiser Chiefs got signed and I did alright. ”
“I am in a band and they can’t be here with me right now… and as far as getting dropped, guess what, they lost.”
Jamie chose to join team Ricky and became the star’s last singer to make it through to battle rounds.
