The Voice 2012: BBC deny that Vince Kidd knew Jessie J before auditioning!
Vince Kidd won Jessie J and her fellow judges over during his blind audition for The Voice and all the coaches wanted him for their team after his rendition of ‘Like A Virgin’, however it has been claimed that he wasn’t quite as unknown to some of the panel members as he seemed to be.
Insiders say the talented London born singer already knew ‘Domino’ hitmaker Jessie J before he tried out for the show, as they had a number of mutual friends.
Heat magazine claims that Jessie knew of Kidd for years before she accepted the role on the BBC series and was pressured by pals to give Kidd a place when the new show began.
Jessie offered him a spot on her team after his blind audition and chose Vince once more, after he went head to head with Jessica Hammond in the following battle rounds.
An insider told Heat:
“Vince and Jessie have always run in the same circles. She’s known him since her stage-school days. They’ve got mutual friends, as he went to the Sylvia Young and she went to Brit school. They hung out in the same places.”
The source added: “Everyone knows Vince has been plugging away at this for a long time.
“Jessie was under pressure from their mates, who asked her to look after him.”
However, a BBC insider told Unreality TV that the claims made in heat were utter ‘nonsense’ and added:
“Vince went to a Jessie J gig in 2008, that was the extent of his interaction with Jessie prior to auditioning for the Voice. He is on her team because of the strength of his voice during his Blind Audition, which impressed Jessie as well as her fellow coaches.”
Vince will perform live for the first time on tomorrow’s show, as Team Jessie and Team Danny take to the stage for the second live show of the series.
One act from each team will be eliminated in the pre-recorded results show, which will air on Sunday night.
