Cleo Higgins has admitted that she found The Voice battle rounds the hardest bit of the BBC series.
The former Cleopatra singer was featured on tonights episode of the BBC show going head to head with singing duo Nu-Tarna and after the trio fought it out over a rendition of ‘Finally’, will.i.am picked her to go through to the knockout stages.
The performance was an uncomfortable one though and there was clearly tension between the women and Jessie J criticised their extreme vocal tactics saying:
“I have a headache. You didn’t listen to each other and I feel like you are all going to walk off this stage with a sore throat.”
Speaking to Bag Showbiz Cleo revealed that she struggled with how to manage the battle and explained:
”It’s a bit of a toughie. There’s a lot going on with the battles. It’s the most uncomfortable part of the show for me because you’re not just proving yourself, you’re proving yourself against who they are putting you up against.
”It’s like you’ve got to take people down without being too badass about it. I keep saying the battles are here and I’ve got to take someone down vocally.”
Higgins wasn’t a big fan of Will’s song choice either and admitted that she struggled with the track right up until minutes before she took to the stage.
She added: ”It was not my most favourite song ever. I love it to listen to but to sing it I was a bit apprehensive. That was the scariest bit for me really. Taking a song like that and being able to put my stamp on it. I’m cool now though. I had plenty of time. I know what I was doing with it.
”But up until the last minute I still wasn’t really fully there. But you’ll see when it comes together. It’s a lot of fun, the song. I get to flirt a bit as well.”
The Voice Battle Rounds continue tonight on BBC One and we have the full list of pairings and song choices here.
