The Voice 2013: Lawson singer Andy Brown wants to replace Jessie J, saying, “If I was approached I’d love it!”
It’s been reported this week that Lawson singer Andy Brown has revealed that he’d love to replace Jessie J as a coach on The Voice.
Speaking to the Daily Star, Andy said, “Not only do I watch The Voice but I obviously have an interest in that sort of thing, because I’ve been singing, writing songs and playing guitar since I was a kid.
“Anything I can do to help up-and-coming musicians is great. If I was approached [to replace Jessie J] I’d love it…
“I’d be absolutely delighted. I think it’s a brilliant show.”
And he’s certainly well qualified for the job, given that as well as writing his own hit songs, he pens tracks for other successful artists too.
He recently revealed, “I’ve been writing for Union J and I’ve given music to One Direction.
“I sent a song to the Swedish guys who produced What Makes You Beautiful so I have to wait and see if it makes the album.”
Meanwhile, Lawson are on track to have a Top 10 hit with their new single Brokenhearted, which is out now.
Of it, Andy said, “It’s one of eight new songs for a repackaging of Chapman Square. A lot of the other ones are more like Justin Timberlake.
“It’s a very current sound for us.
“You have to craft your sounds as your career moves on. These are the best songs we’ve written.”
Brokenhearted features rapper B.o.B, of whom Andy explained, “We ripped a random rap off YouTube and it sounded good.
“So we went to the label and asked to have a rapper, like Wiz Khalifa did for Maroon 5.
“B.o.B. loved the track and it all went from there.”
Here’s the video for Lawson’s Brokenhearted…
