The Voice 2013: Matt Henry says of now being on Team Jessie J, “It’s like going from the frying pan into the fire!”
As fans of The Voice will know, singer Matt Henry was saved by coach Jessie J last night after his mentor Will.i.am chose to keep Jordan Lee Davies rather than Matt after their battle round…
And in a newly introduced twist, a singer rejected by their mentor during the rounds can be ‘stolen’ by a rival coach, which is exactly what Jessie did when Will didn’t chose Matt.
However, it seems Matt isn’t at all bitter and has no hard feelings towards his lookalike Will, but he does have some trepidation about joining Team Jessie.
While speaking to the Daily Star Sunday, Matt said, “Now I am being mentored by Jessie J, which is amazing and I can still speak to Will and we can have a level of conversation.
“Now Jessie is preparing us for the knockouts. I am going to have to work harder than ever before but it is going really well.”
He added, “It is nice now it is less ‘Will’s lookalike’ and more me as myself. I will have my own identity.
“I’m so glad I had the experience with Will and a lot of other artists would not have had that experience with him. I learned a lot.”
Matt continued, “I feel like the new kid. Her team is so well established. I have come from a really hard team with Will to an even harder team with Jessie.
“The talent on her team is phenomenal. I do think it is a higher standard.
“I feel like I have gone from the frying pan into the fire – it has got hotter all of a sudden.”
