The Voice finalist Leah McFall is of course favourite to win the show tonight, but evidently, for her coach Will.i.am, that isn’t praise enough and he’s likened her to “the second coming!”
Speaking to The Sun’s TV Biz, the Black Eyed Peas singer said of his protégé, “There’s something new in the universe. Remember like the golden child…the second coming.
“Out of every single person that I’ve seen from last year to this year, Leah is the best artist.
“She’s quirky, she’s unique. There have been great singers but she has the greater shot to have a career.”
Meanwhile, Leah revealed to the paper that irrespective of the outcome tonight, she’s already planning to hit the studio tomorrow!
She said, “Regardless of whether I win, I’m excited about what happens next.
“I hope on Sunday I’ll be straight in the studio.”
The paper adds, “Will added he was planning to hook her up with some of the world’s biggest hitmakers. He has already introduced her to US soul sensation John Legend this week at a party in Cannes.”
Of that, Will said, “She has this thing called ‘Leah’ in the same way John Legend had the balls to call himself ‘Legend’ before he did anything.”
He added, “These shows render themselves pointless if they can’t identify something that’s going to be on the radio.
“So we spend all this time looking for somebody and they aren’t on the radio?
“In my opinion after the show is finished everyone should be scrambling, just like they were scrambling to find the next singer, just to make sure the person who won has a chance, has a shot, at the radio.
“That’s what the premise is, the premise isn’t just a record deal, the premise is a career.
“After last year I take that stuff too serious and personal, especially if I’m there on TV saying, ‘You know we’re going to fight for you and you need to be on my team’.
“So after you win or lose what are you doing? Was it just a crock of bull because you turned around and boom a camera is on you and you’ve got to look all nice and pretty?
“I ain’t one of those guys — these are people’s freaking dreams and aspirations.”
Do you reckon Leah’s going to win tonight? Here’s a reminder of her performance last week…
