The Voice Battle Rounds: Should Danny have chosen Hannah Berney over Murray Hockridge – Kids (VIDEO)

Murray Hockridge and Hannah Berney were paired by The Script frontman Danny O’Donoghue on The Voice this evening and forced to battle it out for only one place on The Script frtonman’s team.

Cheerleading student Hannah previously impressed in her blind audition for the BBC talent series, wowing the coaches with her rendition of ‘You and I’ for the panel.

Murray was also a hit with the stars, singing James Morrison’s ‘You Give Me Something’ for his tryout song.

This evening the pair were given Robbie Williams’ ‘Kids’ to sing as their battle round track and Danny explained why he put them together saying:

‘I think they are both scared of each other, he’s looking at her, she’s 20 years old, a gorgeous looking girl and she can sing. Hannah is going to look at him and see all his years of experience and he can sing his heart out.’

When the pair rehearsed, Mr O’D thought something was lacking from the performance element of the piece. He insisted:

‘We know you guys can sing, this is the stage where you should do what you do. If this isn’t what you do, there is no point in you being here.’

Taking to the stage, the pair launched into the Williams / Kylie Minogue duet and it was obvious from the beginning that the song wasn’t suited to Murray’s range. In this way Hannah had the definite advantage, because she was much more comfortable in the key.

Hockridge gave it his all though, as did Berney and in the end, both shone as very, very strong vocalists. We loved his looked too his smooth dude vibe and Berney looked super cute in her hot pink number.

Afterwards, Jessie said they both ‘showcased’ they vocals well and did themselves ‘proud.’

Danny quickly made his decision,saying:

‘The person I’m going to take through to the live shows with me is Hannah.’
