The Voice: Danny O’Donoghue reveals why he didn’t deny dating Bo Bruce….it was all for publicity of course!

Danny O’Donighue has revealed just how far he would go to help one of his acts on The Voice.

The Script frontman coached finalist Bo Bruce and performed with her on the final of the BBC show and so full of chemistry was their duet, that it caused speculation that he was dating the quirky singer.

The newspapers were full of stories that the burgeoning romance had ruined Danny’s four year relationship with model Irma Mali and that the pair were only denying their less than platonic feelings for one another, because Bo wanted to keep things low key. However, now O’Donoghue has confessed that the whole thing was a ploy, sparked by a pretty talented BBC choreographer.

The Irish star claimed that it was the choreographer that suggested they get up close and personal during a performance of ‘Read All About It’, and that afterwards, when the rumours started, they kept quiet on the issue because he thought all publicity was good for the singer.

He explained: “I have to turn around and thank the BBC choreographer for doing that because after The Voice its really hard to keep someone relevant and on peoples lips and there was times when I could have just squashed it and been like ‘no we’re not dating’ on twitter or whatever but we figured lets keep it going.”

In an interview with RTE, Danny revealed that he played the press at their own game and continued:

“The press were really going with it so I thought this could actually be quite advantageous, if we don’t say no then at a later date we can say no, but we’ll have kept it in the press for a few weeks.”

Although he insists he isn’t dating Bo, Dan is still working with her on her new music and has even brought his bandmate Mark along to help.

He added:

“Myself and Mark are writing for Max and Bo at the minute so now she’s a household name, but because everyone was asking what the story was with Bo it really helped keep her on the marketplace.”

Danny has previously admitted that he struggles with the massive press attention that has surrounded him since joining the BBC show. In this recent interview he confessed that he has been frustrated at times by it, but also finds it liberating to be able to set the record straight when he wants.

“I just relinquished everything, I have nothing to hide now, it’s all out, which was at the same time frustrating but liberating, I’ve always been an open book,” he concluded.

First of all, this is a pile of bullsh–. You’re turning something he said and twisting it. You’re making it sound like it was planned, it wasn’t. The story was made up from their last performance on The Voice. You’ve manipulated it. They just went along with it.
Secondly Maggie, you are not his girlfriend.
