The Voice UK: All tour dates cancelled due to poor ticket sales!

The Voice UK tour has been cancelled….all of it.

We told you last week that some of the dates had been called off, due to poor ticket sales and half empty venues, but today it has been revealed that the entire strings of gigs will now no longer go ahead.

Leanne Mitchell, Tyler James, Becky Hill, Jaz Ellington, Ruth Brown, Vince Kidd, Bo Bruce and Max Milner were set to join forces and perform live for thousands of people for the first time. They should have visited concert halls in visit Brighton, Birmingham, Glasgow, Bournemouth, Cardiff, London, Aberdeen, Newcastle, Liverpool, Manchester and Sheffield

However, this afternoon it was confirmed that due to a poor response from fans, the tour will no longer go ahead.

Simon Cowell will no doubt enjoy a little bit of gloating, after Leanne Mitchell’s debut single ‘Run To You’ failed to make it into the top 40, when it was released following her winning the series earlier this month.

Ticket sales website GetToTheFront broke the news that five dates were to be cancelled this morning, telling customers:

‘The Voice UK dates in London, Manchester, Newcastle, Birmingham and Aberdeen have been cancelled, tickets to be refunded’

Live Nation later confirmed that the entire tour was now not going ahead.

It’s a big difference from the nationwide X Factor tour, which packs arenas all over the UK on an annual basis. However, it won’t come as much of a shock to fans, as after the Battle Rounds drew in ten million viewers per weekend, interest in The Voice certainly waned and it closed attracting just five million each Saturday night.

The series will return to BBC One next year but bosses have revealed that changes to the format will be made, to spice things up. There may even be a children’s version next year.

    >>> dont know what to think. have never seen those other shows so cant compare the talent levels. and further limited by being an american who watched uk the voice on tape.

but obviously the very structure of the voice uk puts its contestants at a competitive disadvantage to the other shows contestants in the real world. on average x factor etc finalists will tend to appeal more visually due to the contrasting selection process they used — as compared to the initially blind voice uk method. and unfortunately we are predominately visual creatures — to musics loss.

also, given the countless songs to choose from, they could have selected more popular/well-known and more melodic tunes. and as an american id like to hear less american and transatlantic tripe — you english should have more confidence in yourselves and your great musical heritage.

i know leanne doesnt want to lose weight…but another adelle? im surprised at there being one even. i understand its a very painful operation but stomach reduction is very effective and it promotes good health generally and long life.

off topic, but i just heard the brothers gallagher are now tweeting, civily. they both have bands to promote and who knows might consider gracing the voice uk stage to sell more records and perhaps work on their negative image??? i dont think you could find better judges/coaches –funny as hell, smart as a whip, lightning quick and stage presence to burn. not to mention theyre both musical legends and societal icons. and they would likely draw more contestants with an interest in rock which would further help ratings…he said from midwest america.
