The Voice UK: Damon Albarn says Will.i.am is a “miserable sod” who won’t drink with him!

It seems that Blur front man Damon Albarn is somewhat put out that today’s music stars don’t seem to buy into the binge culture that once dominated the world of rock…

And during an interview with XFM – which was to promote Blur’s new box set of their greatest hits – Damon claimed that not only are many of today’s big names in the music biz not big party animals, they’re also too “conservative” in writing tracks.

He said, “If I was to have a criticism about the current state of music, it would be that people care too much about success.

“The music becomes so conservative because the avenues to express yourself have become so sidelined.

“So to break through, people feel they have to be very straight- forward. It’s a shame, because you didn’t used to have to do that…”

But on a lighter note, with regard to what the Sun states is “his biggest hassle” as mentioned, he has trouble finding anyone to sit and booze with.

He said, “At the Brits he’s the only person who’s 1) my age and 2) up for having a drink — apart from Rizzle Kicks.

“I mean, Will.i.am was a miserable old sod. Wearing his own stuff — what is that all about?

“Never wearing anything other than this quasi-Star Trek, slightly rubbery bondage kind of stuff.

“Is there never a day when he wears an old T-shirt?”

You’ve probably given him an idea for new piece of kit to flog there Damon…
