Danny O’Donoghue broke up with his girlfriend of four years recently and some sources close to the star think his relationship with Bo Bruce was to blame.

The Voice coach worked closely with his protege on the BBC series and caused major speculation on the final of the show, when they performed Professor Green’s ‘Read All About It,’ gazing deeply into each other’s eyes and coming close enough to kiss.

Just days later, it was revealed that Danny and model Irma Mali had broke up and while Now magazine reports that they pair actually decided to take a break from each other back in April, his burgeoning friendship with Bo was said to have put a definite end to the romance.

Friend’s of Irma’s parents say that Danny got caught up in the BBC show and helping Bruce to win and failed to put any effort in fixing his ailing relationship.

One insider told the magazine:

‘Danny’s upset that he did little to help an already fragile situation with Irma.

‘He was just trying to be a good friend and mentor to Bo.’

People close to Mr O’D say that his Script bandmates are also upset about all the speculation and rumours, claiming that they hate the negative attention the band has received as a result.

They added:

‘They feel all the speculation could have a negative impact on the band.

‘He needs to focus on what’s important now.’

Showbiz journalist Sam Dowler met Danny and Bo at a recent party and says he knows why all the rumours sprang up. He insisted that there is a definite ‘spark’ between the duo and revealed that he wouldn’t be surprised if they did hook up.

He claimed: ‘The spark between them was unmistakable.

‘She couldn’t keep her eyes off him and if he said something slightly out of turn she’d chastise him like she was his wife!

‘Their body language was extremely close and they were barely apart all evening.’
