The Voice UK: David Julien joins Team Danny O’Donoghue despite being pursued by Will.i.am (VIDEO)

David Julien admitted that he was taking a bit of a risk, by performing a song by The Script in front of Danny O’Donoghue on tonight’s episode of The Voice.

The 23 year old singer showed up to audition for the BBC show earlier this year and performed ‘The Man Who Can’t Be Moved’ for the Irish star and his fellow coaches but before taking to the stage, he admitted to Holly Willoughby:

I used to stack shelves overnight at a supermarket but I’ve quit my job so I can focus on The Voice. I didn’t realise how big this would become for me.

It’s a big risk. It will be my own take on the song….and the guy who wrote it will be sitting there. I just hope that it all pays off, because if not it’s back to the nightshift at the supermarket.

Danny was glued from the first line and seemed intrigued by the new version of his track. However it was Will.i.am that first pressed his buzzer, quickly followed by O’Donoghue.

Jessie J broke out her dance moves once more and bopped along as David sang and seemed to hover for a long time over her buzzer. But she chose not to opt in and the battle was between Danny and Will for Julien’s vote.

Danny said:

“I have to say man you have some cahonas coming out here and singing my song. When I heard it, I heard the same heart and the same intention and the same emotion that was there when I wrote it so that’s why I pressed my buzzer. It was fantastic.”

Tom explained his decision not to buzz and said:

“I didn’t press my buzzer because i thought you were a girl and I have enough girls on my team. If I’d known you were a man I’d have pushed the bloody button!”

Will.i.am said:

“I pushed my button because I liked your voice but you also have room to grow and become a mega mega artist. I’m looking that far ahead down the competition and we have a mission to take our singers out and win!

“If I was you and I was sitting here, I would probably pick Danny. But you quit your job to be here today and I quit my job and that got me in the [Black Eyed] Peas. I had to figure out, do I pick a job, or do I start a group of my passion? I did that and boom boom here we are!”

O’Donoghue countered:

“I’m not in this to take anybody else’s singers out, I’m here to work with people, to be creative with people. Believe me, we belong together!”

So the choice was down to David and after deliberating, he said:

“I think I’m going to go with Danny.”

Do you think he made the right choice? Is David a good addition to Team Danny? Leave your comments below….
