The Voice UK: EPIC battle but Barbara Bryceland loses out to Leanne Mitchell – Edge Of Glory (VIDEO)
Barbara Bryceland and Leanne Mitchell were the first performers from team Tom Jones to take to the stage on tonight’s episode of The Voice and it was an epic, old style vocal powerhouse sing off between the two belters!
Scottish singer Barbara previously impressed the Welsh singing legend at her blind audition, with a rendition of ‘Wild Horses.’ While Leanne turned down the chance to work with The Script’s Danny O’Donoghue after he loved her version of ‘If I Were A Boy’ by Beyonce at the tryouts.
This evening the pair duetted on ‘Edge Of Glory’ by Lady Gaga, with their coach telling them:
‘You both have very, very powerful voices. You are evenly matched there.’
Guest mentor Cerys Matthews added:
‘We’ve got Barbara, who has seen it all, knows exactly how to play it and then we have Leanne. She has all the natural talent in the world and yet her nature is just quite meek.’
However, both women seemed determined to succeed, with Bryceland insisting:
‘I cannot wait to get a cat fight started in that ring tonight. So bring it on!’
The glamorous granny and the holiday camp singer entered the ring and kicked off their sing off, with voices that almost made our TV shake! We weren’t anticipating Leaane and Barbara’s performance as being one of our favourites, but from the moment Bryceland kicked off the first verse, we were glued to our screen….it was riveting.
The vocals, the stage presence, the vibing between the two women was astounding and poor Tom had an impossible choice on his hands. The competition would always be a worse place without either of these singers.
Afterwards, Danny O’Donoghue admitted that he thought the whole thing was ‘brilliant, amazing’ and ‘really, really great.’ He though Barbara ‘brought the house down,’ while Leanne blew him ‘away.’ However he picked Mitchell as his favourite.
Will.i.am admitted that he had the beginning of a crush starting on Barbara, because she was singing to him. He giggled like a schoolboy and maybe the blonde bombshell could become his little sugargranny or something!
Tom deliberated saying:
‘They are as strong as one another and this is maybe the hardest thing that I have ever personally done. So, I’ll do my best you know.’
He revealed his final decision adding:
‘Well, it’s hard, but I think the one that should go to the live shows is Leanne.’
Did you agree with Tom’s decision tonight? Who would you have sent home? Leave your comments below…
