The Voice UK: Frances Wood impresses in a white tutu skirt with ‘Show Me Love’ (VIDEO)

Frances Wood returned to the The Voice this evening, for her second live performance of the series.

The 18 year old singer from Wakefield took on ‘Show Me Love’ by Robin S, in the hope of winning one of the two places in Team Will going forward to the next episode. Though if you’re a resident in Wakefield, you probably already knew that. It seems Frances’ parents have been running a very ambitious poster campaign in the town!

“Show Me Love” was a number one hit dance song for Robin back in 1993 but we admit we were worried about how Frances would cope with the number, after Sophie Griffin was eliminated after singing dance track ‘Titanium’ on a recent show.

Things started off badly tonight for Frances. Sho chose to start with an excruciatingly bad sustained note (think Lulu on Shout, but out of tune). Things improved when Frances hit the chorus, and we could hear some nice tone in her voice. Unfortunately the overall performance felt like it was lacking energy.

Worth note was the very flouncy white skirt Frances was wearing. Quite awesome. Why are more people not wearing these things?

JUDGES COMMENTS:

Will I Am said he thought she “did great” and praised the performance for being youthful. Jessie J said it could have been in a higher key, which definitely might have helped. She said that Frances did a good job of making the song current. Tom Jones said parts of the performance looked like Star Wars and said Frances looked like Princess Leia. Danny O’Donoghue did a fantastic impression of Will to begin with, but said her growth in the competition had been great.
