John James Newman shone on tonight’s episode of The Voice, so much so that he had two music legends fighting to land him for their team.
The 33 year old singer comes from a long line of successful performers and before singing, admitted:
“My father is in a band named Marmalade, my brother [Alec Newman] is an actor and is starring in Waterloo Road. There was always a big performance aspect in my family.”
“I used to look at my dad on stage and think ‘that looks awesome, I really want to do that!”
John James then took to the stage to perform Eliza Doolittle’s hit song ‘Pack Up’. The judges seemed undecided about whether or nit he would be a good addition to their teams at first, with Danny O’Donighue admitting:
‘I have two already like him. I’ve got too many.’
He just couldn’t stop himself though and shouting, ‘He has a brilliant tone!’, Danny spun in his seat, quickly followed by Tom Jones.
JUDGES COMMENTS:
Tom: I thought you sounded great and you choice of songs were great. You came across as very strong to me and I need someone with a voice like yours for my team. So if you need me, call me.
Danny: You have an incredible voice, it sounds so old yet current at the same time and with song choice I think you are one to watch. You have a great tone.
