Ben Kelly has admitted that he loved performing for Will.i.am, Jessie J, Tom Jones and Danny O’Donoghue, when he auditioned in London for The Voice recently.
The 22 year old will be the second Northern Irish performer to be featured on the brand new BBC series, as Belfast teenager Jessica Hammond will also be seen taking to the stage, in a bid to impress the coaches with her version of Jessie J’s ‘Price Tag.’
Speaking to local newspaper The Newsletter, the Derry singer admitted that singing Elton John’s Rocket Man for the four internationally famous stars, was the ‘biggest thing’ he has ever done in his life.
“Knowing who the judges were, it was just amazing going out there to sing. This is definitely the biggest thing I’ve ever done.”
It has not yet been revealed which, if any of the judges turned to face Ben during his audition, or which star he will be working with if he made the next stage of the BBC series, however he has dropped some hints and something tells us he won’t be in Tom Jones’ group.
“Tom Jones has the voice as he’s told us quite a few times on the show! But I see a lot of my own style and artistic approach in Jessie and Will.i.am.”
However Kelly didn’t limit his options and in case he didn’t find success on The Voice, the 22 year old also tried out for Sky One’s ‘Don’t Stop Me Now.’
On his Youtube page, he states:
I’m a 22 year old singer/songwriter from Derry, Ireland, making a go of it in London. Check out my videos and follow me online…
