The Voice UK: #confused! One paper says Tom Jones and Jessie J won’t be back, while Sir Tom tells another he will!

Now, I have to admit that on a Monday morning, confusing my other brain cell isn’t hard to do…

And two conflicting reports today in the Daily Mirror and The Sun about The Voice UK 2013 have done just that.

First, the Mirror claims that neither Sir Tom Jones nor Jessie J will be returning to The Voice in 2013, but The Sun reports that Sir Tom has said he WILL be back, on the proviso that he gets to “approve” the celebs who will be his fellow coaches.

As to the Mirror’s report, a show insider said, “Jessie J is only young. I hope in a few years she looks back on the way she behaved during the show and cringes.”

The insider was of course referring to the fact that Jessie told Graham Norton on his chat show that she hadn’t watched any of The Voice UK’s first series episodes…

And of Sir Tom not being invited back for the new series, the paper reckons that’s because the show’s bosses are “completely overhauling” the show in a bid to attract more viewers next year. And again, to that end, only Will.i.am and Danny O’Donoghue will return.

Meanwhile, The Sun spoke to Sir Tom about coming back for a new series, and he said, “I think I will do another series. We are talking about it now. But there are a couple of things that need to be ironed out.

“One of the things I said I need to know is who the other coaches are, because I don’t want to be sitting there with somebody that I don’t admire or particularly like… there are a few of them!

“Hopefully, we will have the same four coaches.”

He added, “There are going to be changes made because they want to make the show the best it can be.

“When I saw the show in America, I thought it was a good idea. It was different from other talent shows and I liked the blind auditions.”

So, I guess which account is to be believed remains to be seen, but we will of course keep you posted.
