The Voice UK: Tyler James is signed up to Amy Winehouse’s record label
As fans of The Voice UK will know, finalist Tyler James was tragic Amy Winehouse’s best friend, and today it’s been reported that Island Records, who signed Amy when she was at the start of her career, have also signed Tyler.
However, he has in fact been previously signed to Island, but he was dropped from the label in 2005, so he’s now hoping to make a victorious comeback with his first post-Voice album, which will go on sale later this year.
Tyler has been busy writing songs for the album for months, and he’s also been working with his The Voice mentor Will.i.am who’s apparently penned tracks for Tyler’s album.
Speaking to the PA about singing up with Island, and his debut album, Tyler said, “I’m loving being in the studio – but can’t wait to share the music I’m making with the people who have helped me get to this point…”
However, he added that he still loves performing live.
He remarked, “Performing live is always exciting as I just love being in the moment with the crowd.
“Being London born and bred and performing in my home town is the best way to start and I hope to see the rest of the UK soon.”
The PA adds, “Tyler has seen sales of his previous album, The Unlikely Lad, pick up on the back of making it to the final three in the TV talent show. It made it into the iTunes top 10 due to the renewed interest.”

Here WE go again another sob story about Tyler whigngng about Amy Winehouse trying get sympthy from the public to buy his record it wont happen simple as that but rember there is always x factor for sob stories
dan carney have you ever lost a very good friend,I think not. So you are a lucky boy. I can understand why Tyler is still greaving,and I think he try to go on with his life,even if it is difficult.So I hope for you,you will never ever feel such pain.
I get that he lost amy its been a year since she if she had giving booze she would be alive today but she has been dead for year why do these people use sob stories too atrarct publicty it seems daft
How exactly is this a sob story? He’s not mentioning Amy once. Do you honestly think he came up with this headline about ‘being signed to Amy’s label’ himself? I’m sure Tyler would rather that the focus be on his upcoming work.
